TV's with proper scrolling with RGB or Indivision ECS/AGA MK1
Is there any big screen TV's on the market now, say 46" or more, which would do horizontal and vertical scrolling when fed by either a
15 KHz RGB signal or a 31 KHz Indivision signal (both 50Hz), comparable to that super smooth scrolling of a CRT screen connected to the same? Or should I drag a A1200 with me to the local TV dealer and demand to test it against all store models ? Thanks in advance for any replies. |

I don't know what I'm talking about.... but don't most tv's intended for Europe support 50hz? So if you connect the Amiga to it through rgb (say scart if the tv has scart) then it'll work and scroll fine. And if you connect to it with DVI (via DVI to hdmi convertor) and set up the Indivison config correctly, then it'll handle 50hz scrolling too...?
Like I said, I don't know what I'm talking about so I'm likely completely wrong. |

It's not so crazy to bring the computer along. I did that 10 years ago, when I was shopping for my first flat panel TV and wanted one that does its native resolution over DVI. :-D

Yep, if you're planning on buying an expensive bit of kit, they'll usually bend over backwards to help you, no matter how odd your requests. I always recommend people bring their favourite DVD with them for buying a new TV, since showrooms invariably have brightly coloured demo videos to catch your eye, instead of dark scenes which are often more difficult for an LCD to reproduce. The sales people are generally happy to find a DVD player and connect it up to a few TVs when they think there's a chance of a sale.

one thing to check is if the tv does a sport mode. or if you can turn off all the digital noise and picture processing, as this sometimes messes with the scrolling or panning of video creating some weird artifacts.

what generally is a good rule of thumb is the price. as usually the cheaper sets have poor video processing chips.
