Where to obtain 3.9 OS?

Hello... Is Amiga OS 3.9 still a commercial product? This would be for authentic A4000 hardware, not an emulator. I see it being sold at Vesalia.de, but I wanted to make sure it's not just a 'repackaged' public domain at this point. (I don't see any at Amigakit.com) Thanks!

Yoshi if you still want the OS3.9 CD I have a spare. Vesalia wants $55 for the CD and I will sell it for $25.00 which includes shipping. PM me to let me know if you want it.

Anyone know why in particular OS 3.9 still goes for so dear a price from many shops, despite the advent of OS 4.0 and PPC Amigas becoming more prevalent in recent times?

Not sure how much OS 3.5 currently goes for these days, mind you...

It could be because it remains the latest version of Amiga OS for 68k Amigas and it's still being developed (albeit unofficially) in the shape of Boing Bags #3 and #4 updates.

Maybe because it's in many ways a better OS and runs on more machines...?

Well, my other problem is that the 'official' version comes on a CD, and my refurbished A4000 is floppy only. Perhaps it would install from an external USB CD drive (once I get the Deneb figured out), but could I do clean OS install that way?

I'm not sure if it would install cleanly from a USB CD drive, but you could create a temporary partition on your hard drive and copy all the files to it from the CD and then install OS 3.9 to your boot partition from there.
