I'll not translate it manually Once I have the scans I'll check if OCR and DeepL can be used to create an 'international' version

That´s partly correct. The UK version still offers the saw weapon.

Could you tell me which level it is in? I couldn't find it when I played the CD32 version.

I will wait for Torti to scan the guide, just in case the levels have names that I can include.

Not sure...
6 or 8...by the looks of the level layout.
The hint book gives info about a new weapon you can pick up and it´s the saw instead of the censored one AFAIR.

Hi Folks I feel a bit better now (thanks to your guys)

Today, i have scanned the Fears Official Strategy Book.
(I didn´t want to let you guys wait for too long)

The Book is quiet "stiff" and it was a bit "stubborn" to scan.

I did my best. Hope you Guys like the result.

Yours Truly,
Torti

Thank you very much I'll start with creating a PDF tomorrow, but it might take a few days before it is added to HOL.

Had a play on my V1200 equipped Amiga and actually quite enjoyed it. Take back some of what I said - turning is ok unless you are close to a wall and then it just seems slow and wrong. Baddies seem to come out of nowhere sometimes and fire too quickly to avoid.

Level design seems a bit dodgy as I keep falling into the lava on level 2!

The thing that actually ruins the whole 3d effect is the gun - obviously a sprite so hires on top of a blocky background and just doesn't fit. Be good if someone could get rid of the weapon (just turn the sprites off?).

No Gloom or AB32 but not as bad as I remember and might play again.

I have a soft Spot for FEARS, because it was the first fully textured FPS on the Amiga.

Then came GLOOM, Alien Breed 3D, Breathless, Nemac IV & Co

I remember when in 1995-1996 Bomb Software released playable demos roughly in every months or so. I really liked it but when I first played Alien Breed 3D... that became my ultimate game since then, besides with some classics from other genres.

Send a message via ICQ to Predseda
I loved Gloom most, two player games with my brother were unforgettable.

Glad i could help you Guys with the Strategy Book

But can we briefly talk about the differences between the CD32 and Disk version of Fears ?

Because there are differences.

1) The CD32 Version is smoother. (same setup) - Did they optimize it ?

2) The "Map Screen" is animated in the Disk version; not so in the CD32 Version.

3) Mouse support dosent work for the CD32 Version

4) The Logos & Main Screen is completly different (I only use the UK Version)

What more differences are there and what version do you prefer ?

I use the CD32 one, because it´s smoother

The version I know has textured boxes with signs as menu. AFAIK it is the CD32 version.

I did more testing. The AGA is AS smooth as the CD32 version.
There is a problem with the AGA WHDLoad Slave. (it does not support CACHE)

I have to make a Mantis Bug report

Are the devs still around so that they can release the code for modding?
