I did re-flow some of the accessible components, including the RAM, but I will try the others too.
I don't think this is the problem, as the inability to re-start commences as soon as it's done one first boot and only being on for a few seconds, so it does not become very warm at all. I don't understand this level of circuit behaviour, but something is preventing a boot by not having enough time to clear / discharge / switch or something. If this was an older piece of kit then it sounds like a capacitor issue. I also don't know if this is the potential behaviour of a faulty RAM chip either. I have thought about just living with this reset delay and not spend £150 on a new Furia, but it takes a bit of the enjoyment out of using this restored and upgraded machine when using it for fun. This one is a bit of a strange problem indeed. I’m just wondering if this maybe a problem with the A600 board revision? Like with how the A604N RAM expansion doesn’t play nice with a REV 2D board? I take it you can’t try the Furia on another A600? As this would then definitely point towards the Furia.

Firstly, Jopr, thanks for your comments on this thread, its been a good help.
This comes down to a decision between spending £150 on a replacement Furia, or living with the restriction and having a machine that's I know is not right. (Esp. since I have a nice, working, but not as fast 030 A1200) I even bought a replacement keyboard membrane PCB recently and a few good 8GB CF cards, plus I really like the 600 nowadays. I could ask the SWAG Amiga group (UK) if anyone would test the Furia for me? |

I would try a replacement PSU. I was having a lot of issues with my red Furia, the machine would be fine for several minutes (long enough to adf a floppy) and then reboot. It was driving me nuts.
I got a Meanwell RT-50B psu, ripped the guts out of the A600 PSU and put the meanwell inside.. The machine has been very stable since. 3.1 Rom, A600 (A300) Rev 1 board. I've not tested it on the A600 1.3 Rev board that was also giving me weird issues. |
