Your Favourite Helicopter Game (or Sub-Game)

After a 20-month wait wait and a recent messed up poll (thanks for deleting!) I have started this long-awaited poll as Fred recommended !

This can be a helicopter game (or helicopter sub-part of game, e.g. Armor-Geddon). Any game (not just a traditional sim) is valid for inclusion where you are given the appearance of being in full left/right up/down/turn control of the helicopter and are free to roam where you please - thus the reasons why Desert/Jungle Strike are included and yet Silkworm/SWIV are not.

Now get voting, and remind me if there is any missing that you want adding.

What? Fortress Underground isn't on the list? What a travesty!

Please add Zeewolf/Zeewolf 2, when poll editing allows. They should count as one entry really, as 2 is basically 1 with some tweaks.

I'm not gonna vote for either of them anyway, because I prefer the Strike games, they just popped into my head.

There should be separate Gunship and Gunship 2000 options, as they are very different.

The following should also be added:

Jetstrike
Thunderhawk
Super Huey

Super Huey is already there, but hopefully a mod will get round to updating the poll with the others (as listed in post 1) soon. I was considering not putting Jetstrike in there as I played this game for the first time last week and hated it more than I've hated any game in a long time - maybe on "The Real Thing" it plays better ?

I've edited the poll and reset the votes.

Super Huey 2 has been removed, as it's not an Amiga game.

Jetstrike takes some time to getting used to (mainly due to the controls being tricky). Anyway, fixing a poll because of personal views is the action of a cad!

Thanks Cody - one problem....... all existing votes were removed ! However, not to worry - there was only 2 or 3 there anyway.

So Chuckles, BlackCornflake, KillerGorilla you need to vote again.

It's a new poll, so the votes are reset. Otherwise it is a skewed poll, as the original voters might have voted differently if the new games had been an option.

Thumbs up No arguments from me strike's the front runner

The others I have played in the list felt too quirky & less like a combat game, air cavalry was created to be fast and manoverable over sensitive or complex control systems in games loses that feel. Otherwise you might as well be using a 100% flight sim IMHO

I deleted your first poll and I have voted for Zeewolf. Including Hunter is a tad tenuous, no? I know it includes a little helicopter action but....

What about SWIV ? Or SIlkworm? They have a helicopter player sprite.

If you can fly a helicopter in Hunter, then yes it should be included.

Silkworm/SWIV are just horizontal/vertical shoot-em-ups, you cannot go back where you came from - the scrolling controls your movement.

I had to include the likes of Desert Strike in the poll as this is probably the only helicopter game a lot of people have played on the Amiga. If we stuck to a strict "3D Flight Sim" model then pickings would be even slimmer.

I love these polls on here - they just turn into arguments about what should or should not be included. It's just like Mornington Crescent!
