EZ Tower
Hi,
I got a EZ Tower with A1200 board from eBay. See attached pictures, I had the A1200 board recapped by Retro-Passion. I am wondering if the A1200 can be installed in a better case, as I do not really like what Eyetech did to their Tower range. I do not have the A1200 upper case and keyboard, so a better Tower case maybe required, any suggestons? |

That's a .... creative solution.
Normally you just put in the motherboard, and connect the motherboard keyboard connector to the tower keyboard connector and use a DIN keyboard. My A1200 towers came with a motherboard back-plane and a connector back-plate Last edited by Hedeon; 26 October 2022 at 21:20. |

That's a real beast, I had the smaller EZ tower that I got from Amigakit back in around 2010 I quite liked it but when I got back into the game a couple of years ago I bought an Elbox Black Box. Whilst i really like how sleek it is I have to say it's really just a budget PC case at 4x the price. I've seen people do laser cut back plates and create their own cases maybe that's an option?

Yeah, I have one of those towers too (that I don't want, just in case anyone near Glasgow is looking for one...) As cases go, they do the job they were intended for well, and taking the whole lower half of the A1200 means less faffing with taking out the bare motherboard and so on, allow easy PCMCIA access and keep the IDE cables short. The main issue with them is that you can't use a Mediator or similar busboard because of the motherboard orientation. I guess this may have been done to allow the use of PC motherboards in the same case (IIRC they pushed that dual computer concept for a while), and they were early to the tower conversion kit game so Mediator-style setups probably weren't a consideration.

Hi Reynolds,
Nice photos on the Facebook page. The EZ Tower case is a little too big for me, so I was considering installing the A1200 board without the lower part of the A1200 original case, into another case. |

Thanks for all the advice, I admit not liking the EZ Tower setup.
I have Black PC Tower casd that will do, the ATX PSU stopped working. See attachment. The A1200 is loosely placed inside, without a PSU. I am wondering, why useca PC PSU, could a Meanwell PSU be used instead? |

A PC psu is handy for powering a ton of storage devices, one of the main rationales for moving to a tower case in the first place.

for a first look, an A1200-based system can be built into this case, with PSU and Mediator's place included. |

Only if you are not going to use a mediator, then what about a Checkmate case? (Obviously if you are going to use a mediator then thats a no go).
