key repeat rate

I am running WinUAE 0.8.22 r4 on a Windows 2000 laptop, PentiumIII/500. I am trying to run Earl Weaver Baseball or the EWB Commissioners Disk. My problem occurs when I try to enter data. The key repeat rate is too fast. I have tried to set the key repeat rate to the lowest setting, using the Prefs icon, but this does not help. If I press a key, it repeats the keystroke at least one time. I run into the same problem if I try to run the old DOS versions of Earl Weaver Baseball on my machines. If anyone has a possible workaround, please let me know.
