WHDLoad saves too slow
hello there most reverred whdload devs,
here I am again with a humble request. I'm trying to play Champions of Krynn whdload, on an A3000. The game runs all fine and stuff, but saves take really long time which kills most of the fun cause you need to save often with these kind of games. If I understand correctly, during the saves, whdload traps some information which the game is trying to write to disk, and then writes it itself using OS routines. Is there some way to increase the size of this 'buffer' ? if it could take all the info in one fell swoop, saves could be much faster without this OS switching. |

Check the tool types of the slave's icon and S/WHDLoad.prefs to make sure nothing strange is set in there.
i.e. NoWriteCache |

If this is the case and you start using the write cache remember that WHDLoad will then write your saves to disk when you quit back to WB.

I have a bunch of memory so every time I started playing that game I copied the folder onto my RAM: disk and set the tooltype WriteDelay=0 to speed up the saves. Then when I was finished playing I synced the save directory to disk to keep it over poweroffs. |
