I took something perfect......and painted it black

I painted my baby black.

Using a mixture of cdtv keys and self painted keys with special auto rough black paint it produced this. I know its been done before but this is my first ever job. Just need to find some keyboard stickers that are near commodore font for the 2 keys i couldnt find.

Another CDTV keyboard sacrificed on the altar of black miggies... Won't someone think of the poor CDTVs. End the silence... Stop the violence.

yeah... I can't understand what's wrong with a CDTV... nobody stands up showing more appreciation for that piece of wonder... disassembling one for any Amigas is nonsense. I believe you can buy a new keyboard with acceptable quality, and if you blow it into bits and pieces, you can do the same...? Maybe I'll be the first who will do this?
I bought a black lcd, would be cool not only for the CDTV but for any other Amiga...

Imagine the CDTV as a person ok. The base unit aka the heart has stopped working but the rest of the body is fine like the hand (aka the keyboard). Is it not better to make use of the hands on another body whos hands are not very good and yellow rather than waste it by chucking in the bin?

but CDTV is more rare, I think you should wait when you can repair it (please, NEVER throw Amiga in the bin)

Or sell the keyboard on to another CDTV owner with no keyboard. I was just joking though. But I do happen to like CDTVs more than a600s as well. My CDTV keyboard is AZERTY though... damn cheese eating surrender monkeys...

I was actually thinking of painting my A600 dark gray, and inserting a brand new shiny white keyboard in it. But this is very cool, I'm getting second thoughts...

I wouldn't sweat it about those two keys Gordon, although maybe a stationery shop has rub-on stickers that you could cover with a laquer. It looks good as it is.

Gordon, I'm looking for a good black or dark grey paint myself, what's the specs of the one you used? I guess it's one of those "for the bumper" of cars.

Hey photon thanks. I used "Simoniz tough black" paint. I got it off ebay, claims you dont need any sort of primer or prep work. Bare in mind I dont know much about paint but it looks good and seems like it will last.

The do a grey one too.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-x-Simoniz-La...3A1%7C294%3A50

and the tough black one. i choose it over gloss and matt black

I also used it for the keys. But i sanded them down 1st and lightly sprayed them with about 4 coats

Yeah, painting the chassi certainly is the easier option, and with a middle level I won't have to worry about matching the screen black or painting the screen with the exact white of the original chassi. Just wish they had a darker grey, but I emailed him about postage anyway.

Yeah... I could do with a keyboard for my CDTV...

That said, that's surely the prettiest A600 I've seen in a long while. Very neat piece of work gordonbennett, kudos to you

Hi there Gordon!

I am about to make my A600 look almost the same as yours (with some extra mods) and I have important question: how did you managed to assemble CDTV keys to A600 keyboard? They have different "connectors" - A600 has large rectangles while CDTV keys have small squares.

I was thinking about filling the gaps in A600 holes with silicone but maybe you've had better idea?

Cheers!

You need a Mitsumi A600 keyboard, one that has a green flexi cable.
