Boing Ball in a Window?

Hi all!

I have seen many time the Boing Ball demo, the original one, running in its own screen... but I wonder if anyone ever wrote the same demo to run in a Workbench window?

Actually, I'm looking for cool "demos" to showcase the Amiga but that runs in the Workbench, any pointers?

Cheers!

Not AFAIK, but there are a few that include boing balls...
There is an OpenGL version based on the Amiga demo that has been ported to Amiga, but I guess that is not what you are looking for...

One of my favourites is Mysticube:

http://aminet.net/package/demo/misc/mysticube13

There was a 1.4 version distributed with older Mysticview archives.

Awin:

http://aminet.net/package/dev/c/awin

ODSys:

http://aminet.net/package/gfx/misc/ODSys-demo

RotStone:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=55763

There are lots of gl demos, and quite a few scene demos like this one:

http://aminet.net/package/demo/intro/i3Pm-qcv

E! can run in a PiP window and has a boing ball sequence:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=60800

These seem to use the same code as E! and also run in a PiP window:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=55830
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=20123
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=10172
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=67201

The more recent Elude demos have a window (use -morphos argument) mode:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=71742
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=62979
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=61214
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=59637
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=59136
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=56884
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=55795

This uses the Elude code:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=67182

This can be run in a window (use window argument) on m68k if you replace the ppc mp3 player:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13386

A few more:

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=16329
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3942
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=4389
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=14684
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=1808
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=11179

Musicdisks:

Hi James and thank you!

Wow, that's much more than I expected

I have tries already the first few ones, until Q{r}cov, I'll test the other ones in the coming days but, for sure already, you made my day!

These demo are really cool and show what the Amiga is capable of doing!

Cheers!

I'm not sure of the names, but there was one that had a moving bumpmap that used the cursor as the light source,
https://aminet.net/util/wb/WBBump.lha

Another had moving stars in the background.
https://aminet.net/search?query=wbstars

And one had lemmings walking on your open windows.
https://aminet.net/package/util/wb/CyberLemmings

also had a homer simpson talking rubbish in the corner at one point.
https://aminet.net/package/util/misc/NewHomer

Edit, I remembered the names in the end. I'm sure there are loads more out there.

only the first and second looked like demo effects. But they were all fun.

Hi Khph_re and James and thank you!

@Khph_re, I like CyberLemmings very much

@James, Many excellent demos... But none of the P96-PIP would work on my Amiga, would you if there is anything special to do about that?

Cheers!

Sorry, should have added a bit more info above...
Most should work with just a PiP compatible gfx card (PicassoIV, UAE e.t.c.) and P96, a couple of them might only work with a 68040+ CPU. GenderBender requires a 15bit screenmode to be available. Frostbyte requires RTGmaster and the PiP sub library.

Hi James!

Thanks for the info.!

I installed the two libraries but still no joy: GenderBender says that it "Can't open view". SnoopDOS doesn't show anything missing... Did you have a similar problem?

For Frostbyte, it runs in its own screen but when using the RTG option, I cannot select "Run in Workbench Window" in the window that appears, the one in which I can select the c2p algorithm.

Cheers!

GenderBender needs 320x200 340x240 320x256 15bit, if using WinUAE you may need to make sure that all "color modes" are available. In PVS prefs "Show Modes: All" must be selected.

I run Frostbyte without any arguments, in the screenmode selection window (press shift on launch to make it appear if you already have a mode saved) choose a 320x200 8bit mode and make sure it says PIP Display under Mode Properties.
