Hit Fido Demo in WinUAE
I wanted to try out the demo "Hit Fido" by KGB (disk images: http://www.planetemu.net/index.php?section=roms&dat=37), but it does only show the start screen and does not progress any further (tried several configs) with any recent version. hitm4n mentioned in another thread that he had it running in an older WinUAE and I tested some. It does work with WinUAE up to version 0.99.1 and broke with 0.99.2.

Made some further tests. It does work with recent versions, but only if "Cycle-exact cpu and blitter" is disabled. With 0.99.1 and before it runs with that option enabled. Shouldn't emulation be more compatible with the option on?

It should. I agree it is an emulation issue if CE is required to be turned off. CE in 68000 mode is supposed to improve things rather than to inhibit/block them.
Let's wait for Toni to reply. Last edited by andreas; 25 November 2006 at 22:18. |

It works now with 1.3.4 beta 1. Thanks Toni! May I ask what caused the problem?

Demo writes to BLTCON0 (changed number of active channels) while previous blit was still active (may be bug in demo or UAE timing error) which confused ce-mode blitter emulation.
Blitter stopped (without properly finishing) -> demo froze when it finally waited for blitter finished status.. |
