FS-UAE: How to swap Disks properly?
Hi all,
Wish you happy new year! I am wondering how disk can be properly swapped with FS-UAE. I want to play Barbarian II and Running Man - both games have a second disk but I am not able to load when the game is asking to insert Disk 2. I am playing on a MacBook Pro. I am using two virtual disk drives but Disk 2 won‘t be loaded automatically. Is this a problem caused by the cracked games or am I doing a mistake? Thanks for your help! It might be that those games does not support two floppy drives, so:
You must specify all disks game uses to "disk list" before starting emulator. And when emulator is running, press F12, then change disk to DF0 drive Are you using FS-UAE Launcher? It is really easy to configure with it, you just need to add all game disks to Floppy list. And, if you log on to OAGD.net, you will get configurations automatically for those (and many many more) games. |

You can't. Just make different configs for different games with all necessary disks preconfigured. (And if you are like me, also want to emulate Workbench "things" and with that setup only occasionally insert a disk/ADFs you are basically f'ed have to find other workarounds. Welcome to the club.) |

I'm a very casual FS-UAE user, but I know it's possible to drag & drop adfs on its shortcut, and they will boot (also, if you do that with an archive of 2 adfs, it will mount both).
I wish WinUAE could do that too, far as I know you can only drag'n drop if it's already running. |

hello, I find this disk issue quite a p.i.t.a., I can understand the idea behind it, but most users would rather just pick the disks from their rom collection, instead of feeding a database for a later "quick use".
I've found an intersting alternative to manually change the configuration file, it's calling fs-uae from the command line, and telling it the different disks, like that, for example: fs-uae Sensible amiga/roms/Soccer_Disk1.adf --floppy-drive-1=amiga/roms/Sensible Soccer_Disk2.adf It might have its limits, for example if the game has 8 disks... |

I didn't try but can you run something like: Code:
fs-uae Disk1.adf \ --floppy-image-0=Disk1.adf \ --floppy-image-1=Disk2.adf \ --floppy-image-2=Disk3.adf \ ... if yes, than one can think of a script accepting parameters to launch various games EDIT: I've tested and it seems it's not supported Last edited by jman; 13 October 2023 at 19:58. |

I don't really understand the differences between the floppy-drive and floppy-image options, but I'll have a look at the later, thanks

It's documented at this link, it's a way to simulate quick floppies swap on the same drive. FS-UAE config supports this (see my previous comment) so I feel it is reasonable to expect to also work also as a command line option. But yeah, like I said, didn't try it :-) If you manage to make it work, please report back, could be useful to know. |
