Hi,
First off - top work on the site. In fact, top work on all the amiga stuff on the net - I've only just stumbled onto this site. Why didn't I find it earlier? Anyway, enough congratulatory stuff. I was wondering if anyone can confirm my suspiscion that a CD was released of Chaos Engine music? I downloaded the RJ tracks recently, but due to the (admittedly revolutionary) nonlinear nature of the music I can't leave it going in the background, but have to move it on through the subtracks myself. I had a butchers on eBay but couldn't find hide nor hair of the CD. I've tried looking on the net but can't find much there either. Don't suppose anyone knows if it even exists? Also, any sign of Nation XII? Cheers for putting up with my excitable newbie questioning... Binst |

About Chaos Engine, I never heard about it... will take a look for it. Do you know the authors of the original music ? Nation XII ? the game ? |

Cheers for the response!
Chaos Engine - a bitmap Brothers game on the amiga. It was a top down view game, kind of like Gauntlet, set during a Victorian steampunk time period. Kind of shooty, kind of puzzley - with the usual Bitmap brothers finesse. One of the cool things about Chaos Engine was the music - it was based around a system whereby a different part of the music would play depending on your progress through the level. The spooky quiet bits were underpinned with spooky quiet music, whilst frenetic battles were similarly partnered with frenetic music. As such playing the original Amiga tracks is a nightmare. I heard mention of a CD which was produced around the same time as the game. The tracks were written by Richard Joseph, as far as I'm aware. Nation XII - they were the most prolific producers of Bitmap Brothers' tunes in the good old days, having a hand in such classics as Speedball2 and Gods. I had a search of the internet but turned up not much at all... Ta for the help, Binst |

I know the game (of course), but I never heard about one audio CD about it. Tell us back if you find some mods of NationXII ! |

Cheers again. Sorry about the misunderstanding over Chaos Engine versus the music...
Anyway, I wrote to the Bitmap Brothers themselves a while ago, and got a reply. Basically, it was from someone who works there who was a new employee (as in, he hadn't worked on the old Amiga stuff). He said that the office was kind of hectic at the time and as such he couldn't help... I'll keep looking... Nation XII - the Gods and Speedball 2 mods are all over the shop, for example... http://www.commodore-ale.com/music-g.htm / http://homepages.enterprise.net/beej/s.html I was just curious if anybody out there knew what happened to them, or if they've reformed under a different name... i thought NationXII only did the main theme, not the ingame audio too...
you could convert the modules into mp3s, using modtracker, i've done this myself!!! |

There's only 2 songs on the CD32 version of Choas Engine. All the rest is just background noise fit to the levels.
