Amiga won at Assembly 2006
An Amiga demo won 1st place at the demo competition in the Assembly 2006 behind all PC demo and another one won 1st place in the oldskool competition
I don't know if it's due to some nostalgy from the people of the Asm'2006 or if they really deserve but anyway Amiga demo reached the top ! It's not PPC and it runs partially on WinUAE (compitition version is unfinished and has some bugs).

The TBL one 'Starstruck' runs on 060. So beyond my A1200's capabilities, But you can download a video of it off ftp.scene.org

Although it's great that the Amiga demo won, It would have felt like a more genuine win if the submitted video at the party, was representative of the Demo running on Amiga Hardware. On my 060 I get less than half the framerate on the video version (Which is "recorded" from winuae). (Only tested half-way as the demo release so far is not a 100% version which crashes).
Certainly though although the beginning of the demo is pretty, it's less impressive at say 6-8fps than the 25fps on the video. |

What a pity if it's buggy and runs so sluggishly on real Ami hardware. I'm not surprised, though, coz when I looked at the screenshots I couldn't see how it could look that good and run decently on anything but PPC. I guess I'll reserve judgment and try the 100% version when it gets released. Even so, TBL are one of the few Ami groups still pumping out quality stuff these days........so kudos to them for trying to push the hardware.

The download is unfinished (waiting for final version). But, it is not sluggish! It runs very smooth on my A4000/060 until the crawling part where it stops.
