I am also pretty sure that given more time you can turn that gunky brown keyboard back to it's original state I foresee that a lot of yellowed Amigas will be revived and now we, the initiated ones, won't worry about whether an Amiga offered is yellowed or not hence leading to perhaps some bargains on Ebay??

Wow, that's great! I have an Amiga 3000 faceplate that needs a little love to be perfect (I'm the original owner!).

@Kristian
Where can we get this stuff in CA? I see it on the internet at gardening places but can I walk into a Home Depot and find it?

@adolescent:

I have no clue where to get peroxide in the US sorry. I just figured I'd translate the description of this method from A1k.org (in German). Try google, I'm sure it must be available somewhere

@Adolescent / Kristian95

I just asked the wifie, and she says you should be able to get peroxide, virtually anywhere, from any pharmacy or even Walmart

@Zetr0:

Getting peroxide is easy (at 3-4% concentration) but high concentration peroxide might be more difficult but I'd expect pharmacies to carry it too
I don't know though and am not looking as I am not the owner of any yellowed Amiga stuff

Had a quick look on ebay.de, it's pretty easy to get it here. Check if you can find something on ebay.com.

Way too expensive! I bought it with ~5USD (1 litre). It is the type used in beauty salons (30~40% concentration). Look in women cosmetic stores.

I purchased h2o2 ...80 vols=24.2%
and I inserted a pair of yellowed PC keys on a small flask
Now....4 or 5 hours later I haven't see any changes...but maybe in a cup of days there's a surprise

btw, If at the local drugstore they sell the product as vols or volumens...you must divide vols/3.3 and you get the correct porcentage

in my case 80 vols/3.3=24.2 %

@laser:

The original thread on A1k.org as well as rkauer's experiment left more time than 4-5 hours for the reaction to take place I'd say give it at least 36 hours, preferably more time if you want it to bleach more

I had to left the caps in the flask for two entire days for almost-original state.

Sunlight acts as a catalyser, so you must left the flask on directly sunlight for at least 3 entire days.

BTW: 40% grade of peroxide is findable in professional salon stores.

both sunshine (UV + heat) or UV alone (fish tank light?) or heat alone will catalyze the process

From what I see, sunlight. So must be UV and peroxide.

Heating do nothing without light.
