Games with popular, non-game music
I'm talking about games that used songs written, played or recorded by real musicians not involved in the gaming industry, something you'd normally hear on concerts, radio, movies, etc. It don't matter whether it's a fragment or the whole thing.
A couple that come to mind right now: 1. Rolling Ronny - "Enter the Gladiators" 2. Rainbow Islands - "Over the Rainbow" Any favourites? I searched the forum for a thread like this but I either overlooked it or it simply doesn't exist, thus sorry in advance if it actually does |

I think each music in Lost in Mine http://hol.abime.net/4666 is borrowed.

Title theme in Ultima V for Amiga is very inspired from Metallica's "One". I used to have the song ripped directly from the game, and IIRC it had the same name.

Of course, Sorgens Kammer from Dimmu Borgir You can hear very similar song in Agony intro Shame on Psygnosis guys, shame.
Frontier and Elite have many classic tunes, but more games use classic melodies I think (Project-X hi-score table). Last edited by Sensi; 21 July 2011 at 19:55. |

What was the name of that bouncing ball game that came with some Amiga packs? Bouncer? Bouncer Ball? It featured Just Can't Get Enough by DM and Disco Band by Scotch.
Edit: I think it was named Space Baller. Last edited by Mogilny; 21 July 2011 at 21:43. |

Bosses in Wiz n Liz have the tune from Live and let die, James Bond theme (Paul McCartney).
Bosses in Parasol Stars have the Lambada theme (Chico n Roberta, if I remember well). Head over Heels have the intro song from W. A. Mozart afaik. And of course Xenon 2 and Gods, they have adapted, re-arranged music. |

Frontier is full of them. Also Elite with the Blue Danube .
Parasol Stars boss music was really hilarious.. first time I heard it I was like "WTF, this is Lambada!" I Dunno if it they intentionally ripped it or it was just a coincidence. That's the song I knew before playing Parasol Stars: [ Show youtube player ] it seems this song itself is a rip off from this> [ Show youtube player ] |
