Post Team Hoi, a nostalgic retrospective

Hi,

I wrote a nostalgic blog post about my memories of our Amiga game development team called Team Hoi (formerly known as Soft Eyes).

You might find it a pleasant read.

Here's the link. Hope you enjoy it.

Warm regards,

Metin

I remember when I first received Hoi sAGA.
But I had already done my experiments with the new registers (debugging KS3.0 SO copper list)

Haha, thanks for the replies guys!

Yeah that 'Epileptic Finale' is an odd beast. We wanted to pay a tribute to our beloved Amiga demo scene.

Just watched it for the first time now and need to warn you that I'll be putting in a claim too! ;D

It reminds me of the finale craziness that occurs at the end of Fire and Ice, though this is more demo-y and varied. Graftgold's ending looks like they've applied a jumbleiser algorithm to their sprite sheets.

I've bookmarked the article and will dedicate some proper time to it soon, thanks. I love these insider stories.

Fire and Ice was released in the same year as Hoi. Something must have been in the water in those days.

Thanks. Yeah, I get all nostalgic when looking at those pictures.

We're still friends by the way. We go out for dinner every now and then. Although currently COVID is in the way of that.

What the heck! I recently gave away one of the two Hoi boxes I had left to some guy from a local game museum!

Thanks for nostalgic trip.

Is it possible to release source codes for amiga games - just for educational/preserving purposes ?

Also, do you have any other amiga things like unfinished projects to share with community ?

Well, to be honest I've got most digital files of our games from the TOSEC library. I discovered multiple cracked versions of each of our games in there.

Near the end of my article is a list of our games, including a number of download links. In the Moon Child page on the Internet Archive you can find links to the relatively recent macOS and iOS conversions, which you can install for free, no in-app purchases or anything.

Thank you! That's nice to read.

I think the music and the effects are nice, but I can't look at my simple graphics for those demos anymore. I think the third Hoi sAGA was the only part with some decent graphics.

I've added some more info and images to the article, including a collage of my ballpen sketches for Hoi.
