Was The Lost Dutchman Mine the first Rogue-Lite Game? Amiga Review

Hey,

I've wanted to take a closer look at The Lost Dutchman Mine, a game I had fond memories of. And as I was replaying it, I noticed that it kinda plays like what we would call now a rogue-lite...

What do you think about it?

Played that game on my A500 a few times, but never got anywhere. So yes, that might make it a rogue-lite

Seriously though, in the last years I got into rogue-li* games so I might have to take another look at Lost Dutchman Mine.

Definitely not the first on, but yes, I guess nowadays it'd be called that...it's a very trendy tag

It's a pretty cool game but quite punishing. Especially if you run from natives or bandits while having a horse as then not only you lose it but also everything that it carried.

It' fun though. Especially that it came out in times when there weren't as many games like that as we have now.

Yep, and I just thought of Oregon Trail that's even older and also could be considered a rogue-lite.
