Delfina questions
I'm thinking of getting a delfina flipper for my A3000. I have a couple of questions though, before i get down with the cash:
How well does it work? I've seen there are some problems with some delfinampeg.libraries? I was thinking whether the following would work: At the moment I have a Picasso IV card, which gets fed the audio signal from paula through the scandoubler, and then use it's audio output to get sound on my speakers. Can I feed this signal to the delfina instead, and the delfina output to the Picasso IV? Would that let me have both delfina sound and paula sound from the PIV sound output? (I've seen it has 5 4-pin connectors is any one of those output)? Has anyone connected it to an X-Surf II? Any problems there? Thanks |

The Delfina only works properly on one of the X-Surfs clockports... It needs a mod to work on the other...
If you're using OS3.9 get the latest library for the delfina (from http://ami.ga) and put it in your Libs: directory after installing the software but BEFORE rebooting otherwise ramlib will error and you won't be able to get into WB One of the connectors on the Delfina is indeed and output so you could use that.. I just have this set up.. (These are the Phono style connectors btw) Code:
Paula Out --| |---Speakers Delfina Out-| |

There is no such thing as a Delfina Flipper. Individual sold the card but it didn't get off the drawing board. I've got an Individual-built Delfina Clockport and it will only work on my desktop 1200. For some reason it does not work with my main 1200 at all, regardless of whether I connect it to the X-Surf's clockports, the internal clockport, or even if I pretty much disassemble the whole machine to try and remove any hardware conflicts.
As for MPEG playback, it is allegedly buggy - the DSP keeps crashing, even with the patched libraries from Michael Henke. I of course have never got this far as it will won't work with my main Amiga. For me, the Delfina was a complete waste of time and money. The card is buggy, the Flipper interface never materialised, and I spent far too much time taking my 1200 tower apart and putting it back together again vainly trying to find a non-existent problem with my setup. Finally, remember that although some Amiga shops will sell you the Flipper interface, it does not exist. |

Hmm, thanks all. ant512's post made me thinking. I've seen some similar posts about the delfina... sad, it's (in theory) a good piece of hardware.

I've not had any problems with it so far.
True I've only been using it for a couple of weeks, but it's working fine in my A4000d.. got it running off the clockport of my Buddha's clockport... Gunna try and see if the custom (forgotton how many pin) header works sometime soon... |

So I guess it's a matter of luck getting one to work ok? And there are two ways to connect it? Either in a clockport or on a special 26-pin connector (I assume my x-surf2 and maybe the algor have one of those...) Thanks all |

Hmmm... Algor doesn't have that connector I don't think..
As far as I know the buddha and x-surf do... I still haven't put the delfina on a custom header.. Clockport is working OK for now though... I'm happy with my delfina and I think it was a good purchase but I guess everyone has little problems with everything.. (The only pieces of my kit I've not had trouble with is the delfina and algor) |

Nope, I dont have a CSPPC, just a plain CSMKII 060...
With both the rom and the cybertstorm the machine went into a reset cycle... I've finally cleared the rom completely and have just the usb functionality. You think it might help for my case too? |

Yeah, during the loading sequence it plays a funny intro..
Remember that laser effect at the beginning of Turrican II which cut out the square for the rainbow arts logo? It's kinda like that but it cuts out the shape of the word "algor" and then when the word drops away it reveals a scrolling starfield background behind the letters... I'll try and capture a vid 4 ya. |
