Final Writer 97
Does anybody know where to get a copy of fw97?
Not for sale anywhere I've seen. No where for download. Is it is legally on general release - or at least 'abandonware'? Got WW, AmigaWriter - not too keen on them. DTP proggie a bit over the top for letters... If only one of the free WP proggies ( Abiword? ) could be ported. Thanks. |

I can understand you not being keen on AmigaWriter, but what's wrong with Wordworth? What version have you got? FinalWriter 97 is almost as good as WordWorth 7 - so if you don't like Wordworth 7, then you probably won't like FinalWriter 97.
Here's a link to FinalWriter 5 (one before 97): http://museum.babolo.ru/ftp/Amiga/FinalWriter/ ...and Wordworth 7 is there too: http://museum.babolo.ru/ftp/Amiga/Wo...Worth_7.0E_CD/ |

Thanks for the reply:
I'm just weird I guess - My 'Amiga' system is Amithlon, so if I wanted to use an up to date word pro I could just boot into another OS - it multiboots five others. ( Um, before it caught fire anyway!! - DON'T buy from OverclockersUK, their customer support is scandalously bad!!! ) Got AW - came with Amithlon ( latest version? ) Got WW7 Got FW5 - on a par with the above from my strange point of view. ( I go for personal fit rather than features - same reason I use AOS so much ) So... I was curious to see if FW97 was best - from my point of view. Anybody know where to get?? I don't think there's that much difference between FinalWriter 5 and FinalWriter 97. I just did a quick test and although I didn't do a complete FinalWriter 5 install, they looked the same. I can see that you'd want the final version though. Softwood was a great company and always made changes for the better - unlike many other companies.
I'd upload my copy, but I had to pay $25 a couple years ago (after a massive search) and the guy who sold it to me ended up screwing me and only let me download it instead of the agreed complete boxed software. So naturally, I don't really feel like uploading it. Well... if you can find for me working copies of "MacGolf Classic" or "Road Racer" (1988/89 Mac games) or keyfiles for Amiga programs (that can't be registered) FMsynth or Klondike (WallyWare Solitaire), then I'll give you FinalWriter 97. (I bet somebody will post a link for you anyway, ruining my plans ) Last edited by mr_a500; 14 April 2006 at 06:57. |

Thanks again.
Sorry, can't help you with any of the above. Both of our bad luck - I can't expect you to upload for free what you spent good money on. Mind you if FW5 isn't much different from FW97 maybe I should stop bothering... |

FinalWriter 97 bad disk #2
I am reviving this old thread because it came up when I googled FinalWriter 97. I just tried to install my copy of FW97 and found that my #2 disk has succumbed to bit rot and I can no longer complete the install process.
I was wondering if anyone here would send me an adf of disk #2 so I can recreate it and complete the install? I prefer FW over Wordworth as I have been using all of Softwood's products since the first Final Copy came out, plus the fact that I have all the Postscript fonts and clip art that they produced, or sold for use with FW97 and earlier versions. I know that the clipart and fonts can probably be used with any capable Amiga word processor, but I would still like to get FW97 working again and I don't know if I can recover a hard drive install of it from one of my ancient hard drives. They might fail as well. Thanks in advance, David |
