Spider USB corrupts all files
I got Spider USB for my amiga 1200 tower system and it corrupts all files. I have tried multiple usb sticks and they are all recognised by the amiga and i can view the contents of them, but it's always the same problem. For example if i try to move a file from usb to hard drive it complains about bad sectors, and if i move a lha archive to ram: from usb and try to unarchive it, it gives this error: BAD CRC (wanted C200E851 got 03D8E549)
I have formatted the usb drives as FAT and i have also tried with FAT32 but no luck. edit: I'm using poseidon stack 4.4 and spider.device 3.22 Last edited by Aminator; 20 June 2022 at 16:19. |

What’s your full setup comprise of? Mediator version, pci.library version, etc.. Have you checked that you don’t have any RAM errors with Amiga TestKit? Which accelerator are you using? PCI slot assignments…? PCIINFO output.. Laters Mang! |

Edit: Also make sure you have run Medconfig in Config/Report mode to setup the USB buffers.

So pci.library 13.9. Why are you not using 13.10? My PCI setup; PCI 1 = Voodoo 4 PCI 2 = Spider-II PCI 3 = Soundblaster PCI 6 = Realtek NIC I too are using a 1200 TX+ with 8MB jumper set. Get hold of AmigaTestKit and boot off a floppy and run a RAM test. Not had any issues with the 1230 MKIV with SCSI apart from using the FastRAM jumper on the card where the RAM wasn’t up to the task. Also did you run MedConfig with the Report/Config option and setup the Spider USB buffers? |

New Tower setup? I.e Good PSU? Nothing being overclocked? Voodo card for example or even 1230? In your last PCIINFO, int 3 is being used between one of your USB ports and the Network card. You have tried different USB ports? Check your jumper settings on the 1230, manual obtainable here; http://phase5.a1k.org/manuals.html Try re-arranging cards with voodoo PCI 1, USB PCI2, Network PCI 6. Or even just try the Voodoo and the USB card on there own. Unfortunately you will need to troubleshoot where the problem lies. Last edited by Leon Besson; 21 June 2022 at 15:16. |

I'll try a new psu too but i dont think it will help. I guess i'll have to try reinstalling workbench with just voodoo and the spider card. And if that won't work either then it's probably just a faulty spider card |

Poseidon is on latest version 4.5 Amiga 1200 ROM version? If 3.2 or 3.2.1 try 3.1 or 3.1.4? When running your RAM test in AmiTestkit you tried testing; - FastRAM only - Chip and FastRAM - No Kickstart Memory Even if RAM is still not showing any errors, have you tried swapping the SIMM with another just in-case. Anyways.. Good Luck Mang! |

Do you have a PC with an open PCI slot you can try plugging the Spider II in and do some file transfers? This could help diagnose whether or not it’s an issue with the card itself.
Quick edit - the Spider II USB card works out of the box for me on every PC I've plugged it into. Last edited by cloverskull; 22 June 2022 at 23:37. |

The spider DMA buffer is in the RAM of the VGA card (as a consideration).
