Stratagus port for OS 3.x is released

* Stratagus is a free cross-platform real-time strategy gaming engine. It includes support for playing over the internet/LAN, or playing a computer opponent. The engine is configurable and can be used to create games with a wide-range of features specific to your needs. http://stratagus.sourceforge.net/index.shtml

** Stargus is a Starcraft Mod that allows you to play Starcraft with the Stratagus engine http://stargus.sourceforge.net/

Get it from here
www.artishq.wordpress.com

This is a beta release so all the bugs may not be ironed out. But I wanted to get this out there and see if it works on anybodies system.

It is SDL based port, so 040+, CGX/P96 , AHI is recommended.
Also ixemul.library v51 is needed. More about ixemul you can read here http://amiga.sourceforge.net/.

Original data is needed.
It must be extracted from Starcraft CD with special installer or script.
Install script from OS4 isn't working, so data must be extracted under Win for now until I or somebody else fixes it.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/stargus/

Hope you enjoy :-)

Good news for the guys that own real Amigas.

But I must confess that I was a bit puzzled as to how it could be that the release existed. Since Starcraft isn't freeware nor is it open source. Considering it's neither of those, I'm quite impressed, it takes a lot of work then.

A little bit more info would be appreciated, especially recommended specs. And what is ixemulv51 btw? Some kind of run-time environment, similar to Java?

Also, Starcraft is one of the games most famous for popularizing online internet-gaming, with score-ladders and the whole shebang. Is this port compatible with Battle.net?

The original poster edited the original post so READ again:
"Stratagus is a free cross-platform real-time strategy gaming engine"
"Stargus is a Starcraft Mod that allows you to play Starcraft with the Stratagus engine"

So this is like "DOOM RELEASED FOR AMIGA", which never happened.
This is actually a port of STRATAGUS to OS3.x

Anyway, still yawning...

StarCraft is the best strategy game ever, for me. It would be great to have it on Amiga, but I can't imagine it running on 3.x Amigas.

Now if only someone would post a noob-friendly tutorial on how exactly get it to work... not that I tried, but from reading about Stratagus I figure I should convert some files from the game's archive, right?

I don't see any problem with that... it's my 030/50MHz that might not handle it
Oh well, first to get this to work on WinUAE (anyone?) then bugfix

PMSL!
There is nothing difficult in installing this.
First download and install Stargus for win http://sourceforge.net/projects/stargus/.
Use starinstall.exe to extract data from cd (just follow instructions) and wait a while.
Now copy stratagus file from amiga stargus and put into win stargus.
Double click on stratagus and that's it.

Don't forget to put ixemul.library v51 in Libs directory.

I would also like to know - unfortunately any of the recent SDL based ports have ended in tears here, after lots of messing around trying to get them to run. I wonder if there is a P96 issue (showstopper).

This is with a 1200/060/ Mediator Voodoo3 system.

Exactly, I wanna know if it's even worth trying to get it to run.
The only sdl port I've tried was Transport Tycoon, and it always crashed just after opening up the window.

This is a very late reply, but... The only way for Starcraft to work properly on AGA+68k is to make a hand written Assmebler version, otherwise just forget it.
