Nice. Thanks for all your hard work.
Percussion is really where the 8-bit sample ability of Paula really shows it's age. Adding higher quality samples (or in this case live percussion) really lifts the quality. |

Anyway, sometimes it feels so 80s for me how these tunes sounds at all, which is not a negative opinion for sure as I love that era, so that also was the reason why I wanted to "see" how good these tracks could be with my humble cooperation... |

it would be nice to add this cover during the game, but i think that then it will require a lot of disk

Well, in xsmpl format which I've used to listen way back on my 020@28 expanded A1200 with no lag at all it would be feasible I think and it would cost maybe +1 or 2 disks

JOTD stopped work on this because WHDload disables the OS (and so you can't use the AmigaOS libraries for CDDA playback) and JOTD was having issues re-implementing CDDA playback so that it worked consistently. The HW is probably broken and requires workarounds built into AmigaOS but never documented. |

Yeah, a lot of good ideas which were never or just partially implemented.
Anyway, this issue is also valid with the CD32 too? |

Yes I believe so. JOTD has a CD32load thread where he worked with others including Toni Wilen of WinUAE to "bang the metal" to start playback, stop, change tracks etc. worked in WinUAE but not always on the real hardware. I *think* the issues were interleaving data and audio plus error correction with retry? I don't really know but he had some great successes. Ultimately I think burning CD-Rs that didn't work ground him down.
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=81114 https://github.com/jotd666/cd32load The WHDload slave for NoSecondPrize requires 2.5MB RAM which probably means it's probably not going to work with CD32load? Last edited by alexh; 27 April 2023 at 13:03. |
