A lot of things are boring about computing nowadays.

When I was younger I couldn't wait to go to the newsagents and see what computer magazines were on sale, there was a lot of choice back then.

The only magazines I see now are bland looking PC mags, which don't contain a lot of content.

Indeed mr A500 has the perfect quote for why we now still have pasion for the machines...but it leaves out a point others touch on.....

The sense of Community......the magazines that Mathew & other's mention had things not just for the expert users but in gaming & realy learning something NEW, as the guides were written for users by those who had taken the time to use them them selves ...not just extract's from a manual that were wrong.

The early internet & aminet files..BBS's & other wonders all made this platform one that was NOT as simple as " plug & play " you developed a sense of achievement & understanding.

In a world where productivity has become a question of soul less repetitve speed over individuality & this has spilled over into the measurement of numbers sold not customer satisfaction....

How many ? in years to come will have anything to look back from the past decade from 2000 of the new millenia that has the creative individuality of the Amiga era

Yeah i miss that too

Favourites for me were The Games Machine, C&VG, ACE ( my absolute favourite ) & of course the usual run of Amiga Magazines such as, CU Amiga, Amiga Format ..etc..

Alot the Magazines back then too would cover intellectual articles such as the concepts within Blade Runner or various Sci Fi books. Others would cover Synthesizer equipment and run guides on how to get the most of your Roland or whatever it might be, or what about the pokes and codes they printed that required you to go in and really do some handy work and actually learn something.

Finally gotten around to posting summat on this one!

For me it brings back great memories of "youth". Lonnnng nights with mates playing Sensi Soccer, Skidmarks etc.

Med and Octamed. Drove my last wife nuts composing tunes that were quite shite but I thought they sounded good. (incidentally, now got a good grip on it thru WinUAE and write simple blues/rock backing tracks to play my guitar along to....who said the Amiga is dead?)

An OS that was embraced by people and actually had some decents updates and mods written BY the people FOR the people, and more than anything doing it for the love of the machine (not always free but some well worth paying for.

As mentioned before, the Amiga Community in general. You just don't get that same feeling from Windoze......don't ask me why but it ain't the same spirit (how many times have you got talking with mates/colleagues etc and found out that they had an Amiga and have nothing but good memories?)

I've even got my current wife hooked on playing simple stuff like Artkanoid and Mahjong tiles!

All in all a computer that shouldn't have died when it did and how it did.....just thank god for communities like this that keep it alive!

Big thumbs up fellas!

(NB as an afterthought, abd maybe this should be the subject of a new thread, do you folks think that Workbench could have gone the same way as Windoze if Commodore had kept afloat.....i.e. overinflated with insecure tat and overpriced upgrades just to generate more $$?)

I came for the nostalgia, now It's mostly the decent level of the forum and ppl here. Heck I even have started to appreciate the duck after the amiga pc mac thread. Oh.. and I did get some new amiga gear like my CD32 thanks to you guys.

Small things like, saying thank you, basic irony doesn't get you banned or just knowing how to use google before asking.

When checking on other sites started feeling like going to work or 00wned tah rest of da fuckin intahrents omfg plz like what is .rar on mypage? I just stopped.

The Amiga is very special to me and reminds me of the best days of computing fun

Which is why I've just bought my 3rd Amiga 500

My 4th (A500P) might be next week as well!
