Reduce audio latency FS-UAE+Linux?

Hi,

I would like to use tracker programs such as OctaMED in FS-UAE under Linux. Sometimes input music notes "live" into a track using the keyboard as a piano-keyboard (while OctaMED records the notes).
The latency between pressing a key and hearing the triggered sample is about 1/2 second.

I'm wondering if there's any way to reduce this (i.e. have FS-UAE use ALSA?).

Thanks.
