I had no trouble at all with a standard A500 config. Could your problem be related to a certain crack? I used the Skid Row version, but maybe you have the German version cracked by Venture?

Hmm...maybe we should hear what the problem is first....

You'll get the answer if you re-read everything *carefully*.

The version is not a random version, but a particular one!
I should be called stupid if I complained about the SKID ROW version not working on WinUAE
That stubborn bastard requiring a special configuration is in the zone.

Happy FIXED: Liverpool, Murder, Crack Down

YEAH!

With next public WinUAE release, you will eventually be able to play these three games without silly workarounds in the emulator:

- Liverpool

- Murder

- Crack Down
(worked with a bunch of weird settings, but was sometimes system-dependent, so officially, it did NEVER work )

Toni has tracked down some internal weird stuff these games do and implemented a small hack, so that these games work now.
Isn't that good news!

That's very good news. I never heard of the two of them but crack down was fun.

Sound problems in last WinUAE

Hi guys...
The question is:
Why the sound of many games in WinUAE 088r9 is OK, and the
sames games with the same configuration in the WinUAE 0822r4
is wrong with speed variations. The games are many with this
problem: Slam Tilt AGA, Rodland and others.
In wich part of the last WinUAE is the problem...?
Thanks.

Are we talking about U.S. Gold's MURDER? If so, great work!! That game has been annoying me for ages.

Well, I modestly pass this praise to Toni.
Yes, it's U.S. Gold's MURDER I was talking about.

SOLVED

Game disk (TOSEC probably) missed explode.library which was NOT in :libs as expected.
Moreover, bootblock was non-standard.

Not a WinUAE bug.
Fixed version had been uploaded to the zone, if you want it again there, don't hesitate to ask.

In Dogs of War, I am only getting as far as where it says "1 OR 2 PLAYERS?". Nothing seems to have any effect at that point except F1 which goes back to the main menu. I'm using WinUAE and the HD-installed version. I'm not 100% sure it's an emulator bug, but that seems the likely hypothesis...

@my "colleague" WindowsKiller:

I'm not that sure, but I think that was the name of the game we had a bigger thread in german-language GAEB with umpteen crap versions but only one working.
Others froze, crashed, well ... anything imaginable happened.

A little bit off-topic here, but....

There seem to be many different little configuration changes you have to make, depending on the game you are trying to play in WinUAE. Is anyone compiling a big database of the configs (or a list of settings) you need to run each game?

I've considered it in the past, but the problem is that with each emulator update the settings required for a game might change, so you would have to recheck every game to stop the compatibility data getting out of date.

Also, most games do tend to work well in a standard config and with WinUAE compatibility getting better with every release the benefit of a project such as this is dubious.

Not to mention the vast amount of time required to do it, especially if you want to include WinFellow as well as WinUAE. And then compatibility can be improved with WHDLoad and CAPS, so do you use those or normal cracks? And which version of a crack should you use when there are several? Some emulator incompatibilities turn out to be dodgy disks or missing files.

@andreas: Yes, we had a big thread about Dogs of War in (or on ?) the GAEB:

http://www.german-amiga-emu-board.de...7707&boardid=7

You maybe have to press 1 or 2 on the numpad.

It was working perfectly for me using above config (unlike lots of other games )

I think the theory is this :

Did you have to enable 'Immediate Blits' on your real amiga to play this game?

If not, then it's an emulation problem!

Dumb theory.

There's no switch for 'immediate or not' on a real Amiga!
