Take a look on the polish equivalent of Ebay and you can get some bargains.

Polish 'eBay', eh?
Why didn't I think of that? (answers not required) Time to do some Googling. @papa_november: Yes Amiga prices can be cruel... still there's hope in alexh's law - patience is a virtue. Last edited by Charlie; 29 November 2008 at 11:12. Reason: d*mn this auto spell-checking... |

Image quality. Digital->Analog->Digital->Analog adds jitter and colour quantisation.

I think i've asked this (many times) before but is there any external one that is any good? I'm talking A1200 use for playing gamers generally.

I dunno. I've always used a TV with wedge shaped Amiga's and Picasso IV with bigbox Amiga's.

FWLIW:
If ones soldering skills are on a par with mine (pretty cr*ppy in other words) I'd say an S_video mod will give more than good enough results for those of us who live in a region where this is an option. DJBase (bless him) does a very nice little PCB with instructions for about 1/10 the cost of an Indivision... ...ok, so it's NOT an Indivision but up to 800x600ish with descent cables I can't imagine there'd be any complaints about the quality. Yes, I bought an Indivision & am very pleased with it. |

A1200 and A600 already have SVideo onboard just not connected to pins. You can make your own, preferably with amplifier, for next to nothing.
I think DJBase's board is an amplifier. But RGB SCART is still better. |

I have an external one that is hooked up to my A1200 that is a scan doubler and flicker fixer in one and it offers impeccable clarity and quality on my diamond view 17inch PC Monitor ( although it takes 1 or 2 minutes each time i turn my amiga on after it has been off for a long time to calibrate, but it does this automatically ). I don't even know what its brand name is though.. i will check later.

Ok, stupid question here...can S-Video output be had from machines other than the 600/1200 & if so, what is involved?
Oh yeah, before we get the smart-ass comments (yep, I'd be saying it too)...I know the CD32 already has S-Video PZ. Last edited by Fingerlickin_B; 30 November 2008 at 12:54. Reason: Stupid ISP!!!! |

Not without extra hardware. i.e. a video encoder.
There are a few examples on the net on how to modify a PAL A520. http://members.iinet.net.au/~davem2/overclock/a520.html Or there is a board developed originally for the NeoGeo (NeoBitz-S) which converts RGBS to S-Video |

An internal device might be a pretty good idea for the 500/2000 as they already have a near-useless B&W composite jack. You could in theory just rip out whatever's used to generate the B&W picture and hook up a proper RGB encoder in it's place.
The attachment point for the RCA jack could even be used for one of those funny 7-pin DIN connectors used for TV-out on modern video cards, possibly giving you composite, S-video and component on the same jack with no alterations to the case. |

I also use an external Eyetech (white box)... With flicker fixxer etc... Works fine in My A4000.. But for some strange reason, deosnt work with any A1200 tested with it... (testet with 2 different)...
Works fine, takes a little bit time to warm up... But works fine on an HP 19" lcd.. |

Kriz. That is almost certainly an Indivision / Toast Scan / countless other names
http://www.bboah.com/cgi-bin/showhar...cgi?HARDID=377 They are not 24-bit and so result in colour loss in AGA modes. |

S-Video on an LCD is just horrible - great on a CRT though... I've enquired to Analogic about the cable from the FDD they did from the 32 - still to receive a reply though |
