has dblpal changed on os 3.2?

dblpal was working perfectly on my a1200 under wb3.1, but under 3.2 i get out of range errors (benq bl702a monitor)

i can test dlbpal in screenprefs and i get a perfect image, but when i save and reboot i get out of range.
and then have to delete screenmode.prefs from env-archive to get it back to standard pal

Is there VGAOnly (Devs:Monitors) present and/or active? May worth a try.

I’ve found that the 56KHz audio option in CGX (and P96?) prevents DblNTSC/DblPAL from working correctly. It’ll seem to work, then it won’t. Do you have an RTG card, or anything else (software/hardware) playing with the chipset?

I seem to remember there was a change related to black borders? Could be wrong as I don't use DBLPAL.

Try copying DBLPAL from 3.1.

copying over vgaonly seemed to solve the issue
checking my old 3.1 install i did have vgaonly there aswell. so i must have always been using it without noticing.

strange that dblpal works when using 'test' but fails when i save or use it

as a side question. should i keep dblpal at its default x/y resolution settings or can they be altered to get a better/fuller image on my bl 702a?

There is SYS:Prefs/Overscan and at least two programs that can alter monitor driver settings. One is http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/MonSpecsMUI the other I cannot remember.

I found these dbl scan presets to be quite good without breaking compatibility way back when I used to use aga+scandoubler and vga monitor

Because using double modes You have 56kHz available. 56kHz mode is working similar, but without video. This is case of using same hardware trick twice.

It’s very strange behavior. The DblNTSC modes would work perfectly the first time a screen was opened/switched to, barely work the second time, and the monitor would give an out-of-range error every time after that until a reboot. Took me ages to diagnose - I first thought it was a hardware failure!

In theory You activate QuarduplePAL/QuardupleNTSC video with 112kHz audio

I used to use MonEd to tweak the settings when I had my A1200 and C= 1942. Is that the one you were thinking of?

I'm glad I finally figured it out because I'm certain that's not healthy for the chipset.
