Easily add CD ISO image as hardfile

For accessing Amiga CDs, I find it useful to add the ISO image as a hardfile, then mount it manually on the Amiga side. To make doing that quicker, here's a small suggestion.

When adding a hardfile, check whether the hardfile is an ISO 9660 or High Sierra image. If so, use these settings by default:
- Enable RDB mode
- Read/write unchecked
- Block size 2048

Then the user won't need to make those changes manually.

[Which Amiga CD filesystems work for putting in the FileSys box in the add hardfile window? AmiCDFS doesn't seem to.]

IMHO there is nothing easier than "Select Image File" + "CDFS automount CD/DVD drives". Nothing needs to be done on "the Amiga side". And you get a real CD drive with removable media, not a strange harddrive.

I couldn't get that to work. Does it require that I configure an emulated IDE or SCSI CD drive first? (And therefore need to change the WinUAE config to emulate A2091 or A600/1200 IDE controller too.)

By the way, my method does kind-of work as a removable drive; you can change the CD image in hardfile settings, the old disc icon disappears from Workbench then the new icon appears.

Miscellaneous Options -> SCSI Emulation and it should work as Thomas said.

CDFS emulation should be 100% compatible with any Amiga CD or image. It automatically uses any available physical and virtual CD drives and internally uses uaescsi.device units.

I don't think there are cdfilesystems that are designed to work from RDB, at least without needing custom dosenvec parameters.
