USB to DB9 - cheap adapter?

Hi,

I'm buying it as a present for someone with a laptop and no mood for CDs and drivers.

I'm thinking of buying this. Will it work for my Zipstick without any software drivers?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-2-0-to...item1c2c4492be

It says software comes on CD with it, but even so, am I better going for one of these:?
http://www.ebay.com/sch/fgradel/m.html

These are MUCH more expensive, but are known to work without extra software.

??

The top one is a serial port, so it cannot be used for joysticks.

I bought one of these:

No complaints, seems to work with Sega controllers, genuine and non genuine, as well as the Wico joystick I used, and a PowerPlayer joystick.

I suppose it should also work with Amiga/Atari joysticks... am I right?

The Wico (Command Control) and (Mindscape) PowerPlayer joysticks I mentioned are both commodore/amiga/atari joysticks

So, it would appear so, yes.
