Amiga to Amiga?
As i am running on (DAMM) Win xp. I can't use any link program to make like PC-AMIGA.
Now why not make a ***Amiga*** -Amiga link? Yes indeed, make a link tru WinUAE. All you need is the corect cable. And some extra stuf for WinUAE. |

You can PC-Amiga .. Just have to use Serial .. XP blocks the Parallel (for PC2AM) .. Serial works fine .. I use XP's Hyperterminal (Start->Programs->Accessories->Communications->Hyperterminal) on the PC Side and NComm on the Amiga side.

XP seems to block DOS use of the serial and parallel ports, which happens to be what the DOS program PC2Ami uses.
Like Orgy said, a none-dos proggy PC side should work fine in XP. |

Yeah, but still
Think of it. WinUAE making a link, passing windows And you stay *always* on a Amiga. Eh? (and WinUAE will also be known as a link prog) (the more it does, the more dude's will use it)*IF IT WORKS GOOD* So far WinUAE is the best of the best. |

You can use parallel on XP, you just have to use a driver to allow direct access to the port. Back when I used to use my Doctor GB or V64 Jr I used a giveio.sys, google is your friend.

Because WinUAE uses Windows for file axxs :/
So it'd be like using windows own serial/parrallel i/o which as already discussed doesn't work 100% Do a search on here and I think there is a thread/posts about linking pc/winuae<->amiga for multiplayer gaming and why it don't work!! Same principles I guess! |

I have a growing disk collection to transfer to my PC for uploading to CAPS and the thought of using LHA and floppies is daunting. /me mutters something about A1200, PCMCIA, Network card and dongle not working [edit] i will try it on the wifey's laptop, fingers crossed, because she spilt a drink over it and the internal modem went gay <poof>. Whilst the laptop loads fine, and works ok, the modem doesnt </me crosses every appendage > Last edited by whiteb; 29 January 2004 at 01:08. |

I tried my laplink cable on my Laptop to amiga, using PC2amiga and the userport driver. still no go.
[edit] EUREKA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCREW YOU BILL GATES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rant mode off, ok I got it working by using instructions on the net, formatting a 1.44MB disk in XP as a SYSTEM disk from the format menu, puts an XP DOS on the disk (boots to command prompt). No XP locking the parallel port. From there you can run PC2AMIGA, and you can access the Hard Drives on the PC too. My next step is to also put PC2AMIGA on my A530's workbench setup. In my latest test with this discovery, I loaded CAPS dumping disk, and I have succesfully dumped a disk through 4 wire Laplink direct. WOOHOO, it works......... Hmm dunno what you have acomplished but linkup throuhgj WinUAE doesnt work because of bad emulation of CTS/RTS or some shit like that. I asked Toni once about this and I think he can't be arsed to look into that old code.
It would be nice for playing games like Populous or Skidmarks, but not for file transfer, since I bet you can't lift up the transfer rate that much (it barely goes to 115200 under pure DOS with twinexpress) |

Why not use a program like Amiga Explorer? I've used it for years and it works fine, even with Windows XP.
