There is no reason for the serial link to slow down frame rate.

The only data to transmit between machines are essentially controller state and some game state every few frames and that should amount to at best a few bytes.
Provided the link code is properly written this should take only a few scanlines and would simply replace the controller reading code for the non-local player.

The rest of the game would be completely unaffected.

Key word being provided. We all know how poorly coded many Amiga games were.

I don't know what good null-modem support is going to do in single player games :/

Obviously meaning those games "would" have been great had they been able to play via null modem link in multiplayer.
doesn't really matter that they were single player does it, as the question was which game would you like to have seen with the feature..

Yes, exactly that. Something like Civ1 could easily be multiplayer, be that hotseat or null-modem.

Death Mask would be another good null-modem one, with full screen for each player (or maybe four player).

Ironically, with modern games, I wish more were NOT link up (online), but were split screen.

For me, we've lost much of that local play interaction that made gaming so much fun.

And yet it's in these modern times when we have huge screens or projectors, at super high resolutions, making split screen MORE viable than it used to be.

Sorry slightly off topic rant...but kind of not

I think it would be cool to play multiplayer in Alien Breed on two Amigas
Think about Tower Assault when two players decide to split up and are not restricted to stay on one screen. They could take different routes, each one go to different tower and met again at some point.

At least with a serial link up one is slightly limited in the amount of players and the distance.

But there definitely is something fantastically unique about split/shared screen multiplayer.

Were there any Dungeon Crawlers with null modem or internet play? Would love to COOP Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder series with folks!

Sounds like a much better game than chaos engine 2.

Come to think of it, CE2 over null wouldn't be too bad!

Bloodwych wouldn't be half bad.

At least there's Gloom in the FPS world which has null support
