Installing an external FDD internally to an A1200

Is it possible. If I take the plastic mask off the FDD and use the plastic eject button from an existing Amiga FDD, will that work?

Yes, unfortunately each different floppy mechanism uses a different kind of attachment for the eject button.. You'll need to leave it out or cut the case or create a button some how. :-)

You may be able to take the front panel off, or find it is actually attached to the drive, not the case, in which case, you can just put it stright into the case like I did.

Also, some external drives have the drive itself jumpered to ID 1.
For internal use you have to jumper or switch it to ID 0 !

I have seen an A1200 with the internal floppy taken out. In its place an internal IDE zip drive was placed and the plastic on the case that covered the old floppy drive was dremeled out.

I have an A500 that doesn't have an internal drive at all.

I can connect three external drives to it and they show up as DF0-DF2
