WarpOS vs. PowerUP
Hey!
I'm a bit confused with some PPC stuff. I have a dual-accelerator board, but I don't know if I should install PowerUP for these, or WarpOS. What's the difference between the two, and which one is generally accepted to be the better one? Happy computing! |

Which board/machine do you have? WarpUP (or WarpOS as it became) tends to be the favoured solution, and can also run PowerUP software with the right setup.
I'm happily using WarpOS with my BPPC. |

They are both doing the same thing, and they're not compatible - you can only use one at a time.
It doesn't matter which one's better, since one of them clearly won the PPC war: You want to install WarpOS, because that's what the vast majority of software - including any 3D games you might come across - is using. Plus there's a PowerUp emulation available for WarpOS, which helps you to get one or two things running that only exist as a PowerUp build. Last edited by Korodny; 29 November 2020 at 18:08. |

I also have a blizzard PPC. I have a Bvision as well, but I have replaced that with an ATI Radeon on a mediator card. I have WarpOS installed now, and I am ready to use some PPC stuff! |

I can recommend using the 5.1 update from the Haage & Partner site, rather than the one on Aminet. The latter gave me ramlib failures all over the place when trying to run WarpOS software.
