Fault with my A500?

I'm having an odd issue with my A500. I'm trying to create a Cannon Fodder 2 save disk. However, the machine keeps crashing during the format process.

I'm using the "Format" option in the game itself. I have tried the same thing, with the same disks, on my A1200 and it works fine but every time I try on the A500 it crashes.

It's an old machine and I have recently recapped it. The trapdoor memory expansion had been noticably corroded by a leaked battery but seemed to work okay after a clean up, but I've replaced it with a new modern one in case it was faulty memory causing the problem.

I'm confident in my soldering skills and have examined my work under a microscope and can't see any bad joints or shorts.

Anyone got any other ideas what might be causing the issue?

To rule out any RAM issues I would suggest to check the memory of your machine using the excellent Amiga Test Kit by Keir Fraser:

Pull ALL ICs out - clean the contacts on ICs and then put it back.
