Issues with 5.25" Floppy Drive

Hi,

I have a TEAC 5.25" drive that works fine under OS3.1 but on OS3.9 I get weird results: I am sometimes unable to format floppies, sometimes formatting floppies succeeds but they give errors such as "has a checksum error on disk block 987". If I boot cleanly before kicking the ROM and load WB1.3 then I have no issues with the drive at all.

Any hints as to what may be the problem?

Thanks!

UPDATE: Well I dug further into this - it seems that the "Format" (from Workbench:System/Format) utility for OS3.9 is the source of errors. I have just used the WB1.3 "Format" utility and now all the floppies can be formatted and read fine.
