Richard Joseph was accused by Mark Cale to delaying the game deadline,
and richard has sued Mark Cale to the court.

Richard himself told it to me as i asked him about Putty Squad.

I think it's the main reason of the cancelation of the game.

Richard Joseph as in the one who recently passed away?

Is this court case still ongoing?

Yes our Richard.... it finished, but he didn't tell me about the consequences,
and i think that the team involved in the creation of this game doesn't want
to talk about what happened....

I'm not too sure if John Twiddy is that difficult to get in contact with in all honesty - I believe Retro Gamer interviewed him for their Last Ninja article?

They did, but if I recall the guts of said interview, they'd actually remarked how difficult it was tracking down John Twiddy,& the fact it was basically conducted by email at that.

I think its fair to say that it seems like between various attempts to politely attempt a Snow Bros like miracle have hit the proverbial wall of China, sadly.

Well one of the RG staff - Craig Grannell - frequents the World of Stuart forum so I might ask him for the lowdown and all.

Roll eyes (sarcastic)

Actually just caught up with the interview you'd mentioned about MethodGit. I hadn't been aware of the (newer), interview 'til then-I'd recalled an older interview mainly with John Twiddy a few months ago,(wherein the "difficulty" finding him was mentioned).
Whilst the screenshots on LN4 look okayish, I have to wonder at the attempts to make new-age remixes of LN, & the old Epyx games etc. They're fantastic C64 games-but like a movie remake you remain wary. We'll probably see Putty end up on handheld next,(so woe betide a release of the Amiga game for free download).

That's if they ever make the effort to bring that out in the end. Remember the planned PS2 port?

Very (sadly) true, but I think the AGTW write up sums things up in a stalemate- if there's the perceived idea that it could be remade onto another platform (potentially) in the future be it the would-be Ps2 or any other console, it gives them a very convenient "out" to prevent a "free" version being released. Though you have to wonder at the motives of certain person(s), whom feel that way about an-age old unreleased amiga game.

I just received the latest issue (39) of Retro Gamer in the post today and it has a feature covering the making of Putty, nice article with feedback from Dan Phillips, Mark Cale and others.

On a side note the Amiga 500 is the main feature this month.

Sure, its not a huge part of the report but there is a side column commenting on its completion for its 'intended machine' the Amiga 1200, but never released.

Mark Cale explains the reason why etc etc, he does say some promising stuff for the Amiga community reguarding it actually!

EDIT: Am I aloud to write what is says as I don't think this issue is out to buy in the shops yet??

Okay, heres the side column:

AMIGA RELEASE IMMINENT

Although Putty Squad was completed by System 3 and favourably reviewed in Amiga magazines, it was never released for its intended machine, the A1200.

That has left some Amiga fans tearing out their hair in a desperate attempt to find a copy.

What happened? System 3 boss Mark Cale says: “We just felt there wasn’t an Amiga market at that time so we didn’t want to go to the expense of manufacturing and distributing the game. I made the decision to can it.” So where is the game? “Its locked away and it’s unlikely it will be released soon, certainly not for profit. I wouldn’t charge for it – that wouldn’t be fair after all this time.”

When pushed, however, he added: “Releasing it is something I may look at further down the line, perhaps as a freebie on our website but at the moment there are no plans. I would want to see a strong Amiga emulator running the program in the way intended before I consider it.” There is no way the original C64 Putty will be released, however: “The code just wasn’t of the quality expected at System 3”
Well perhaps one day then

The rest of the article about the making of Putty is on a 4 page spread, if I had a scanner I would scan it.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that in another side column where the SNES and Amiga versions of Putty Squad are compared, Nick Lee, one of the artists said they added a lot more cosmetic detail to the Amiga version.

It aslo says they are releasing a new version of Putty on the PSP and DS, but by taking the concept and creating something new.

How well does the Putty Squad demo run under WinUAE? If that runs well then there's a good chance the full game will...
