HELP: Birdie/VisualPrefs Experts...

So for a short while now i have been trying to abuse my setup to have a very, very vague WB1.3'ish theme, i just write a simple "1" to ENVARC:WB13 and if that exists the appropriate saved prefs are dumped into ENV: delete ENVARC:WB13 and im back to my normal theme.

My problem is that while my normal theme uses the usual Blue coloring and works perfectly fine with Birdie and Visualprefs both doing their thing, my 1.3 theme is not so lucky, as the theme requires me to have a solid white window and therefore a solid white image for birdie apart from some of the titlebar, when that image is applied over my window, my scrollbars also become solid white.

Does anyone know the correct way to apply a mostly solid white birdie image which doesnt totally whitewash the window scrollbar colors?

example picture of what I have so far here, nowhere near complete but I kinda dont want to go further if i cant fix this scrollbar issue:

I think the problem is the color palette, it has happened to me a few times in my VP.
To avoid this problem I use Fullpalette: this way I block the colors and then use them in the same VP.
As you will see, I have blocked many dark colors.
Sometimes the palette "jumps" color...better to block them and then use them in VP.

already rocking fullpalette, its needed for my regular blue theme and mostly locks in MagicWB colors for that theme but i have FP matching the right colors for the WB13 theme as well. i can see my window scrollbars when i mess with the birdie light/dark values but then my bright white windows end up darker. Its the first time ive tried using an image in birdie thats plain bright white and im obviously doing something wrong.

try using the text color (black) for the scrollbar, just as a test.
I'm sure the problem is the "color shift", I don't think it's Birdie's fault

DisastroIncarna can you attach your 1.3 theme, I would like to test it on one of my systems.

In any case with the AfA OS extension these problems do not exist!

Unfortunately AfA OS does not work on OS 3.2, a great pity, OS3.2 with AfA Os would fix both the Themes and the palette, on RTG 3.2 some apps change the colours on the window bars, never found a solution.

Heres 2 themes as an attachment, most of my "Normal" one and my work in progress WB13 one thats not behaving, hopefully have left out any files, you will need to edit the likes of Birdie.Prefs to change the file locations to wherever you put the files. Same for VisualPrefs, its .prefs file is included but you will need to manually pick the bitmap images again to wherever you put them.

Thanks I tested your themes, the WB 1.3 is not very nice especially for the text on the windows covering the rows.

Regarding the scrollbar colours, unfortunately on VisualPrefs this feature is missing, on the AROS Prefs Theme (improved and more advanced version) there are folders with images of the sliders and sidebars, see screenshot

yeah it doesnt look great because 1.3 doesnt look great, plus you kinda have to mess things up more because 1.3 is flat and 2.x - 3.x is 3d looking and certain things have to be done to make things look flat/1.3'alike.

still trying to tweak it but its obviously annoying not being able to see the scrollbars, i can turn off birdie and that works but then you lose the 1.3'ish titlebar stipes.

the scrollbars in VisualPrefs GUI Prefs program looks normal, my issue is that to get the titlebar stripes im using an image with birdie and when applied the scrollbars get whitewashed so you cant see them, and as ive never used a pure white image before this is the first time ive had this kind of issue.

if you look at the picture linked in the first post you will see the GUI/Prefs program looking "normal" but the actual windows bottom/left of the screenshot have whitewashed scrollbars.

I think the problem is brush/color 0. Change color and don't use 0.
I have had this problem making my theme, there are several programs that do not accept changing the 0 and insist on using the typical light gray color of the WB.
I had to abandon the idea because I saw many unwanted "features" with the colors.
If I have time I will upload a screenshot of the features.
It gives you a white color, in my theme it's violet.
When I can, I'll look at your theme and if I can, I'll correct it.
I like the name "disastertheme" hehehe

By the way, what version of VP do you use?
I use this version (see the shot)
Do you have the PatchWB and Trap patches activated? Disable them, with OS 3.2.x they cause problems.
Here you have a shot with the inactive fill pens that I use.
I hope it can be useful to you.

For wallpapers have you tried 'Birdie Prefs'?
