I've just tried IMP3 on OS4, and getting a complete system lockup when it tries to start playing a mod. It connects and updates fine, IRC works, the track listings work and it downloads the track it tries to play, but then locks up the entire system, no Grim Reaper crash requester or anything.

Any ideas? It's 4.1FE with all the latest updates, tried it with Nallepuh and CIAgent in case it was a Paula or CIA access thing, but no joy.

please check ptreplay.library and ptplay.library in libs:
should be autodownloaded.

remove it and try again with imp3

Hmmm, ok, so I checked those libraries, and ptreplay.library had a size of 0 bytes. I deleted them both and re-ran IMP3. It crashed the same way, but this time, both libraries are 0 bytes. I then tried copying over ptreplay.library from my working OS3 IMP3 setup, and that didn't work either (but interestingly, there's no ptplay.library in Libs: in that setup).

As an aside, if I quit IMP3 before playing anything, I get a message in a console window saying that IMP3 quit without freeing signals. I'm not sure if that's related to the main issue though...

os3 != os4 you need ptreplay from aminet for os4

but this should be autodownload but u can try with aminet package

I've tried the OS4 versions of the libraries, and initially it crashed... But now, after a reboot it's working great. Thanks for the help!

Edit: I spoke too soon, hard lockup again when it tried to start playing the 2nd track...

I uploaded both libraries to "DISK / MustHave - packers, etc / aos4" maybe try them to be sure

Okay, now it seems to be working

Thanks for the help! The libraries look identical to the ones I downloaded from Aminet, but it's happily skipping through tracks now.

The next issue is less serious, but it sometimes (maybe 50% of the time) doesn't connect on startup. Nothing happens when I run IMP3, I have to issue a couple of Break 4 commands, and it ends with a message saying it's unable to connect to the IMP server. It also reports unfreed signals. Running it again then usually connects instantly.

hmm. ctrl+c will send BREAK signal to bsdsocket.library so after that is normal that imp can't connect to server, but I don't know why u can't start him..

Over the past few days IMP no longer connects to the server. I get the message 'Cannot connect to IMP server".

Nothing wrong my end; my internet on my A1200 is working fine. Is the server offline? Hope this gets fixed soon as I'm missing listening to some cool tunes.

server is up 24/7, last restart: 32 days ago

gets information if backend imp3 was unavailable. nothing like that was ...

strange situation, as km-l wrote, we are there every day
