Ok, found the limit (in my case anyway):

Scanning 2307 detected items works
Scanning 2308 or more makes Tiny Launcher crash for me.

I have discovered a new bug, though. It was a bit hard to track down, but here you are:
When the last directory scanned contains exactly 20 entries, the listing only shows one entry for the affected directory. (e.g. 20 slaves in "Z" subfolders)

@KTC
so, you are under 2750 I would like to know the directory that makes it crash.

Yes I'm aware of this bug as I said earlier
I think the bug appear when the last page is full.

Well, in this case, it was "GAMES:Z/" folder, but I guess it could be any folder. I tested quite a lot of scenarios, and everything points to the number of entries, as all scanned directories work if scanned separately.

Did you know about the "20 entries" bug? I must have missed that. Sorry

You can find the Retroplay updates on the EAB fileserver:

Yes I found it by myself

@SuperNashwan
Thanks

I don't think it's a TL limit because my last scan was more items than that

I will try putting all my games in a 1-level structure again to see if this gives me the same results. I will post my results when done.

Ok, I have downloaded 672MB of Retroplay.

As TL doesn't crash with KG collection I guess it's with one directory of this compilation.
So...Which directory have you used ?

Demos ?
Games/Final_installs ?
Magazines ?

Is there a full Retroplay compilation or Retroplay is just an update of KG compilation ?

@gibs

Retroplay contains updated installs and new releases, so I have replaced some of the KG ones with the updated versions.
I am testing with "demos" and "games/final_installs".

I tried going back to a 1-level structure, using the exact same slaves, and there it worked with 2308 entries.
Are you testing with 1-level or 2-level?
I then tried putting directories into just a couple of subdirectories, and this actually made Tiny Launcher crash even faster. So I guess the problem occurs with 2-level structures, which could explain why you don't have problems.
Please let me know if you need more information about this.

This is getting confusing now!

I'm using KG + Retroplay packs, both unzipped into the same A-Z, 2-level, CWB games folder structure.

This is what was giving me the crash to 'gibs meditation' during the scan.

Ok it seems it was the 2750 limit Now extended to 3000
I have mixed the Retroplay compilation with the KillerGorilla one and now I can scan 2848 items : https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Tin...ncher22b60.exe

Can you confirm ?

I ended up messing so much around with my games that something got mixed up, so now I am rebuilding them from scratch, putting in the latest additions too. When I am done, I am going to be scanning about 2309 entries, and test it with beta60.

With beta59 I concluded, that it crashed when scanning 2-level structures and having a second level dir with more than 500 subdirs which contained slaves. After that I tried other combinations and number of entries, keeping dirs with less than 500 entries in each but it did not crash on me.
Is this 500 entries per subdir limit still in beta60?

I will let you know my results when I am done rebuilding and testing.

Oh thanks for this usefull information...
Yes 500 games was another limit I have fixed !
I was thinking about ClassicWB, I could not imagine that there were 500 games starting with the same letter.

Edit : My "S" Directory contains 698 elements, the half are .info so about 400 games.

This version can scan up to 1000 items in the 2nd level subdirectory : https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Tin...ncher22b61.exe

I could go to unlimited but actually, for some reasons, I prefer to do like this.

Tested b61: I get 2848 games too!

Couple of things:

1. You probably know this, but when you toggle Tooltypes wth 'T' from the infodesk page it doesn't update the display (as it does for example when you change RAD) until you revisit the infodesk.

2. In my opinion, the fastnav bar would look better and be slightly more efficient if the numbers ('0123...') were all collapsed to a single digit '0'. There are hardly any games for each number so it wouldn't reduce the speed of finding a particular game, but would slightly increase speed of finding games beginning with a letter. Would also match up with the CWB folders nicely. But for me I admit it's mainly an aesthetic thing...

Beta61: 2311 entries scanned in 2-levels without crashing
I second the suggestions by SuperNashwan. Good call

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1566495/Tin...ncher22b64.exe

-This build display the correct number of items at the end of the scan.
It's not 2848 items but 2874 items that are scanned as it's displayed in the list.

I just noticed a long filenames bug, I don't know if this was present in earlier beta's but...

For example SensibleWorldOfSoccer9596 if it's located/scanned in a first level directory the game starts but if it's located/scanned in a second level directory the game won't start, it just hangs at the load game screen.

Tried a couple of others, the same, long filename games don't start from second directory level.

Sensi...9596 runs fine for me from a 2nd level dir.

The fastnav bar looks great now.
