BlizKick object not of required type
Since my 3.1.4 roms dies I've been trying to set my A1200 up to run with my 3.0 roms. I gather from what I've read at forums that it should be doable. I'm trying to use blizkick to load my 3.1.4 kickstart ROM (which I've placed in my devs folder), but I get an error message saying "object is not of required type" and boot fails. The kickstart-file I've copied is the unsplit file provided by hyperion. I assume I'm doing this wrong as Ive never gotten blizkick to do anything but show error messages.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. I have an A1200 and Blizzard 1260/scsi-kit. I've put: C:blizkick KICKFILE kick.a1200.46.143 In the very top of my startup sequence. Last edited by Overmann; 05 February 2021 at 17:27. |

Check out the BlizKick guide. It seems you need to use full path of the ROM image file. There are several examples how to launch BlizKick. The error message is also described "Module file you specified is not valid.". I would guess that something in the command line is recognized as a module.

you dont need to specify KICKFILE. Thats just where it goes. So something like:-
C:Blizkick Devs:kick.a1200.46.143 QUIET |

Yes, sorry, I am using the full path, or rather devs:kick.a120etc
I changed it now to dh0:devs/kick.a120etc but no difference. I should add that prior to the error "object not of required type" I get a message saying: "Kicking version 46.143" or something to that effect. Perhaps the "object not of required type" is for something else? When adding QUIET to the end of the line i get no errors but i get a GURU ( After leftclicking i get a requester type error (as in workbench is loading) saying that ramlib has failed.. Edit: and the mouse has stopped working. I nees to do a shutdown and wait for 15 seks for the mouse to start working again. Edit 2: I'll be damned. I commented out the whole if-sequence for loadmodule ROMUPTADE and now workbench loads. Should that work or have I just caused another problem down the line? Just to check blizkick is working ok with your blizz060, you can try :-
C:Blizkick * That will simply map your 3.0 rom to fastmem. It should say if there is an issue with any maprom setup. |

Your BlizKick command line replaces more or less the original S-S part with LoadModule. As far as I know (please correct me) it checks if KickROM 3.1.4 is there (installed) or not. If yes it skips the LoadModule part? If no it loads OS modules form disk (maybe Devs:?).
intuition.library is not in KickROM 3.1.4. If you want to use it you need to load it (with BlizKick or LoadModule) or put it into your 3.1.4 ROM file with Remus for example but I don't know if that works. |
