Double Dragon 2 (*NOT* the Oracle crack)
Since I've just learnt to know that the Oracle crack is the very first version of DD 2, I wonder if there are other cracks around that were ideally made from a FINAL version original.
There's only ever been the Oracle crack around as an ADF, so I wonder if there's another one lying in someone's disk box(es) just like Sleeping Beauty, longingly waiting for some hero to wake her from her long sleep ![]() Last edited by andreas; 19 August 2002 at 01:56. |

No idea if there ever was any other crack, but I have played the Oracle version nearly unti lthe end and it doesn't look like a preview or something unfinished.
But I think you can take the big file out of the HD version and rename it to.adf It might have been made from a later original version. |

Thanks for the reply.
OH. ![]() Sometimes the image is exactly 901120 bytes, but anyway it's not the same image anymore like the one that was made from the floppy disk! So I'd take this tip with a pinch of salt. But nevertheless, I'll give it a try. |

Is there anything notably different about the later versions? How can you tell what version the game is?

Double Dragon 2
The way to tell the difference is in the Scrolling credits at the start of the game, if you read through it will tell you which PAL/NTSC version it is.
Oracle cracked the first PAL version, and as far as I know, everyone else screwed it up and only Oracle released a 100% version of the game, hence why no other versions exist. The reason why Richard Aplin then had to release another PAL/NTSC version was because the ECS Amiga's had just been released, and one piece of code to set the modulo was incorrect so that the first versions didn't display properly. Other than the Oracle crack (which isn't a preview its the whole version), only the WHDLoad install supports all of the made originals.. As for taking the ADF file from the WHD version... that would be a neat trick seeing as I ripped it to files!!! |
