ClassicWB Menu Widget

Does anyone know what this widget is that comes pre-installed on ClassicWB 68k

I'm considering upgrading to OS 3.2 but I like this menu widget, is it something that can be configured or installed on v3.2

Thanks!

Is it 'BMX' by Oliver Roberts?

I've not tried it myself but for 3.2 you may want to have a look at BestClassicWB, I would imagine that will have a lot of the same functionality that you are used to in ClassicWB...

Failing that, looking in the WBStartup drawer and user-startup will give you a clue as to what tools you currently enjoy...

Thanks!
BMX runs smoothly on OS.2, you find everything in the SYS:System/BMenu folder.

The icons you have on Workbench are copied from the .backdrop file you find in the root.

The biggest problem is the assignments and paths to the files you'll need to run, which must be in the same path assigned on ClassicWB, otherwise you'll have to change everything.

Could someone provide me AmigaOS #### with ClassicWB ADVSP as .HDF, contact with PN. A1200 #### Thanks

Do not request software still being sold, get your wallet out and support those that are still working on the Amiga

Thanks guys - BestClassicWB looks very cool - i'll give that a go once I get around to upgrading my WB version.

In the screenshot the resolution looks super-hi-res

Is it the 3.2.1 OS that makes that possible? I read that the A600 has a maximum resolution of 1448×556 so I guess it cannot be the hardware giving this headache inducing output which I see when I try super-hi-res.

What is causing this and can I expect a screen like the first screenshot above with workbench 3.2?

The screenshot has dimensions 640x512.

A600 can do that with PAL Hi-Res Interlaced mode, although it would flicker. If you have a 31kHz-capable monitor then DblPAL (from Storage:Monitors) would give the same resolution at 50Hz without flicker.

spacebiscuit, you did not specify what Amiga you are using, or if you are using an Emulator.

In addition to the resolution you also need to set the maximum colors available

Don't want to hijack a thread but one quick question... once you have created your own menu is it just a question of putting it into WB start up folder for it to start on boot up or do you need to put any other files elsewhere?

No the WBstartup has nothing to do with those menus, if you mean the Run icons, Files, games etc... those icons are just shortcuts that are in the .backdrop file that is in the Root.

Anything that is placed in the .backdrop file, will be iconized on the Workbench, then clicking on those icons will execute a script that will atriate the menu.

How does it run at start up then? As far as I remember (I haven't used Classic workbench for a while) doesn't it just appear on the workbench screen when it first boots (or maybe it doesn't and my memory is going...!!?)

If you are referring to the installation of the ClassicWB, its HardFile as soon as it starts requires the installation of the Operating System.

ClassicWB's Hardfile does not include the Operating System but only the Third Party Applications.

I attach a video of mine showing how to install ClassiWB.

In answer to the question about which Amiga I am using, I have an a600 and I have emulation setup. In both cases at high-res the quality looks a bit crappy.

The A600 has the rbg2hdmi mod running.

If you use emulation and have OS 3.2, forget about Amiga 600, emulate a nice A4000 040/060 and 256/512 MB RAM, you will have great speed, you can run all Applications at your best and if you like to play games, WHDload games will go much better.

If you then want a nice Workbench even better than the screenshot use uun RTG system with UAE-GFX Graphics Card with 256 MB

I've set my emulator per my A600, this is what I get with super hi-res laced:

Hi-res laced is a little better:

But in both cases the screen looks a little squashed. As mentioned I have rgb2hdmi on the real Amiga. What are the optimal settings I can expect to use? A600 has stock 2.05 kickstart and I'm running ClassicWB 68k for now.

You're using MagicWB icons that needs 8 colors and specific locked palette to look good.
Just change the screenmode to support 8 colors and either use FullPalette with MagicWB colors or use http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/Palette
Also changing icon and screen font via Prefs/Font like for example helvetica 13 will give a lot better results as topaz 8 for hi-res laced is a bit weird :P
