Erase Partitions and Content

Hi!
I'm running a 1GB SanDisk CF Card on a Standard Amiga 1200 (Real Hardware) and I'm experiencing strange results when preping the card for a new installation of wb3.1.

Using Install 3.1 HDToolBox, I Change the drive type and choose 'define new' to ensure drive detection\configuration etc This detects my drive fine. Then I Low-level format the drive to ensure its clean, choose default Setup for partitions, and save changes to drive.

After a reboot I would expect to see 2 disk icons ready for formatting (NDOS... etc) instead i see the previous partitions still containing files from my previous install (i.e. on 'work:' partition)

I know i can just format the 2 partition but would expect the low level format and partition rebuild to erase any existing data... any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

First: Don't low level format using the standard A1200 ide interface. I think this is supposed to be a SCSI feature, but the SCSI.device is used for compatibility, and this feature won't work properly, or it won't work at all, so don't use it.

When you make partitions which are the same as existing ones, they will show up as normal again (as in you can erase the partitions, and then set them up in the same way), and because low level format doesn't do anything on your setup, this is what happens. The low level format really doesn't work, so nothing is erased.

The only option is to format both partitions with the normal dos format.
