Exclamation Turrican II Ending won't play with WinUAE 0.8.21 release4

I owned an Amiga 500 long ago and always hoped I could replay old favorites like Turrican II, Super Hang On etc. on the PC.
I tried WinUAE long ago but with very limited success and gave up on it.
2 days ago I checked again all Amiga emulation options and dropped the idea of Amithlon since I'm only interested in games so this would be overkill and secondly it doesn't seem to like Geforce3 cards just yet.
So I re-tested WinUAE (v0.8.21 Release 4).

So after some fiddling with the settings I finally found settings with which Turrican II ran like I remembered it.

If any of the WinUAE/UAE authors read this forum I'd like to express my deepest appreciation for all your efforts. Thanks for making all this possible!

Sound/Music was perfect (I finally even grabbed some of my favorite tracks and I experienced only minimal slow-downs in the last speedy airborne level (7).

To those who don't know yet you can download all Factor5 classic games in .adf format at http://www.factor5.com/download.htm including Turrican II.

Anyway to return to the subject I could play the game up to the very end without any problems whatsoever. But when the final extro should come up the screen just stays black.

Is this a known issue? It's not really that bad.. I have seen the extro like 20 times back when I still had my Amiga but I'd still like to see it again for old times sake and I think the audio track in the extro was worth grabbing too.
I will send a save snapshot to anyone interested in testing.

Additional information:
Settings I used in WinUAE:

-> OpenGL [Tab]
[x] Enable OpenGL [32bit] [Bilinear]
[15] Horizontal Size
[28] Vertical Size
[-13] Horizontal Position
[-9] Vertical Position
[0] Scanlines [1:1]
-> Game and I/O Ports
Serial [none]
Printer [none]
Amiga Mouse Port 0 (x) PC Mouse
Amiga Mouse Port 1 (x) PC Joystick 0

relevant system specs:

I'm just a little stumbled that everything else works besides the extro. I did try various chipset settings without success. The intro from Turrican III runs fine.

I tried both the official image from factor5.com as well as some cracked ones.

I would appreciate any input.

Factor 5 dumped those games from the original protected discs at a time when long-track reading was in its infancy. As a result the games were not dumped correctly.

I believe there are plans afoot to release a complete set of working Turricans in the near future. Check the Factor 5 website for details.

In the meantime the whdload versions are probably the safest alternative.

Thanks for the info.
I will try to find the whdload version but I guess these versions (hard disk install) are much harder to find.

I couldn't find any information on the factor5 page that the backups are in any way inferior or that they have plans to release more complete versions.

Would be nice if they really do so though. Any idea about the timeframe?

Hey guys,

We are re-transferring all of our titles. All protected images on the F5 webpage have a quirk or two. Long-Track/Copy Protection transferring was very new and very unreliable when the old images were done a few years ago. The new ones should be spot-on.

T1, 2, and BCKid are already done - exspect an update later in July.

Thanks!

J. E., Factor 5
That tells me that Turrican 1 and 2 are re-dumped 100%. In searching for this bit, I found someone else complaining that Turrican 3 ending wouldn't show and someone said to beat the game without cheats. Dunno if it was valid in 3, or if it's valid in this case, but there you go

Sorry to go off-topic, but I think Factor 5 deserve a lot of credit to support the emualtion/old Amiga fan's like this. I always thought a hell of a lot of their C64/Amiga games were well written,(Turrican especially), but at a time when other's were content with ST port's they really pushed the Amiga.
But to be generous to the emualtor & longtime gamefans really speaks volume's about them-unlike Elite (Ghost'n'Goblin's),which I recently read about on the C64 Lemon forum site.

Yes Factor5 really rocks for doing us this favor.

I'm really looking forward to their new product which somehow reminded me of Turrican. Look at their current projects page.

I think they were like the first ones to use the extended ADF format for copyprotected games!

BTW, I dont think Thornado will ever get released...

It's just a 3D *barf* clone of Turrican methinks.
