Replacement battery ?
What's the safest thing to replace the old leaky "barrel" type clock batteries with ?
Is there a "drop in" replacement ? ( solder in obviously !) I've got an A500 that I want to get working again , and I just know when I open the cover it's gonna be horrible ! Cheers. |

Is it an A500+?
Its only the +(Plus) that has a battery inside. If it is the Plus, don't delay get it open and snip out the battery ASAP!!! Amigakit sell direct replacments or you can get Coin type kits from eBay usually. All the best, Steve. |

What I do is solder a cordless phone battery in its place. That keeps the battery away from the motherboard. As for the coin batteries I think you have to make sure that the battery can be recharged. If it shouldn't then you need to put a diode in so that the computer does not try to charge it. You willthen need to replace on regular intervals.
