WHD version of bloodnet sound stutters.
Hello, yesterday, i tried the a1200 aga version of bloodnet on my a1200(whdload), but experienced a lot of stuttering of sound in cutscenes, then, the gameplay works ok. Is this a problem of a bad whd converted game?.
If it's is the case, has anyone a working whd of this game?. I'm using an A1200 with Apollo 030 and 8 megs of ram. I think that i have plenty machine to run this game. Thanks in advance!!! |

Bloodnet WHDload installed versions, both ECS & AGA seem to be buggy and unstable; on my A4000, at least.
What a shame, because I really like this game. Maybe the slaves should be updated & bugfixed . The AGA version doesn' t seem to recognize/ use Mmu at all, nor it does the correct amount of fast ram available, by the way. |

Bloodnet is already HD installable out of the box, no need for whdload.

Yes, it is. But how to get the game to open it' s own screen ( to the front), when running the game from OS3.9 Picasso screen ? I got BloodnetAga only working, when running it form Dos mode, ie. booting without startup- sequence ?!
Fortunately, I do own an original copy of the game. Thank you, nujack ! |

Sorry for double posting; but I really hope this game would get an updated and better WHDload install.
Generally, there are many, many other originally hd installable games with good WHDload installs / slaves, so I think this game would deserve a better WHD install, too. I have tried the game on my 060 A4000 with many different combinations of WHDload options, with no success. I think one reason may be the lack of 060 support. It seems the current install also ignores all extra fast memory, except for 1 meg. It also doesnt recognise any fpu or mmu, it seems. It would be great if someone could improve this WHDload install / slave. And that sure would be the case with Bloodnet Ocs/ Ecs version, too ! |

I'm pretty sure that FPU is not used in that game. And MMU, well it doesn't speed things up, only protects the memory segments.
Maybe there's not enough fastmem in the setup which explains why it's slow. Will have a look. Stuttering sound can be another issue. Paradoxally, the faster the CPU is, the worst the sound can play if the replay routines aren't done properly timing-wise. |

Oh, I forgot to tell you I never had any kind of sound issues with Bloodnet ( Aga).
I' m no programmer or expert in WHDload, but I think 1 Mb of Fast Ram really is way too little for this game. Regarding to what I wrote earlier on this thread: I know the game propably doesnt actually use Fpu ( or Mmu !?) ; but theyre correctly recognized on the original game startup/ launch wb screen ( as is the case with the total amount of Fast ram installed!); but this isnt the case with the current WHD install / slave. The WHD version usually runs just fine about 20 minutes; then I suddenly get " Out of memory" error or access faults; depending on the options I use with WHDload. Interestingly, I get out of memory error also with the Ocs version of the game. This error requester is the game' s own requester ! On my A4000d setup, I have about 300 Mb memory total. Most WHDload games work fine. Last edited by macce2; 07 February 2021 at 19:16. Reason: Adding some useful info |

but if you have Amiga with Harddisk, isn't better to install directly the game on HD? So you can also avoid any whd problems/compatibility

Thanks, but I really like to launch games straight from the wb, whenever possible.
I do use my Amiga to other things, too; not just playing. In the case of Bloodnet (Aga), the game just doesn't work, if I try to launch it from my desktop. I have to boot my Amiga without startup-sequence and launch the game from cli. I just dont like it that way; if Im going to do some writing, for example, too, I d better load the wb / OS3.9 desktop anyway. Besides, isnt WHDload originally for not only to get those many floppy disk only games, but to, generally, get "all" the games to work on any Amiga / setup with a hard drive ?! ?
