CD32 Mobo in A600 case

I'd like to create a small AGA machine. Obviously would need to find a CD32 expansion SX32-Pro.... to make it a decent device, but - will the CD32 motherboard fit in an A600 case?

Which keyboard interface would I need to use for the A600 keyboard to get it talking to the CD32?

Any ideas, folks?

CD32 in an old colour PC laptop would be better...

Take on the Suzanne.

True, but interfacing to the screen could be a nightmare.

@alphonsus

hackery eh?

well then i think you might like some of these ideas.

I have some plans and schematics i have done to convert the chassis of an a600 into a laptop base, and another a600 chassis into a TFT VGA laptop lid, equiped with either an 13.3" of 14" screen and gubbing from said LCD monitor.

The connection would use the SVideo to an Up Scaler box to VGA and then to the screen, this would also allow VGA pass through, PIP, 100 channel RF and composite inputs to be used.

I was thinking of building into it a small 2.5" HDD based Media player (that can connect via usb to the pc and amiga via usb clock ports) this would connect to the VGA pass through of the up-scaler. so one would be able to watch movies in anything up to 1080p

Built in digital free-view to RF input

Composite in for Camera / video cam

SVideo for the CD32 motherboard,

Other features
  • Sound
    • speakers in the lid of the laptop,
    • microphone jack to sampler
    • Midi Wave Table Card
    • MIDI out and through
    • Combined Stereo of SFF ROM, Native Amiga and Wave Table (DSP) effect card
    Internal Fitting
    • CUSTOM 182MCA port to A1200 Trapdoor interface (and IDE Header)
    • Blizzard / Apollo 040/060 with SCSI (if no ide available)
    • FDD
    • Parallel / Serial IO
    • 2x Clockports

there, that might get your creative juices flowing.

OMG Zetr0...
I remember you saying about this sometime ago, but the how-to was indeed inspiring
I kinda thought of the whole process since it's definitely doable, I must say:

Awesome

@mfilos

thanks for the kin words my friend, but it was DrF that inspired me with his project ideas, as I believe we were discussing making a proper colour amiga laptop

I still have the chassis plans here that i drew up, all based on the A600 chassis I may well put it up online tonight.
