Duke Nukem 3d suped up (eDuke32)
I'd been trying to get DN3d working OK under Windows XP using Dosbox and XP's own compatability settings but with no real joy. Then I stumbled across this! It's great! Yes the not-true-3d aliens can look a bit silly at certain angles BUT the gameplay makes up for it. It runs so well and you can tweak it up to something quite tolerable. Go on... have a dabble.

It's a great revamp to a classic game. I keep playing far longer than I had intended - I'll just get past this bit then save it, I'll just get past this bit then save it, etc, etc.!
The weapons are so good! Pipebombs are great fun. I'm gonna have to join their forums for some info I think. I noticed Monsiuer Keropi metions most of the "objects" have been 3D'd but mine are still 2d it seems! Oh well... "come get some!". |

Ah... it all becomes clear. I was running the game from the correct NEW icon but I had not downloaded the HRP models, etc. so was just getting an enhanced version of all the originals.
This is great! I'm off to kick some alien arse. |

This is awesome! Runs great, just get the Windows Installer and put your Duke3d.grp file in the root.

TikTok - Download the High Res Pack NOW!!!!!!! You will not regret it!
Does anyone know if there is a similar project for good ole Doom? I have been using Doom Legacy for ages (which is excellent) but wondered if there was a version that has changed the game engine to use full 3d obejcts? |

Yes vroom6sri, there are for all doom-engined games (heretic/hexen)... i don't seem to recall the name - seen it on demonoid and underground-gamer lately, will search.
---=== EDITED ===--- Found the screenies: The engine's name is Doomsday - think I found it, but no idea if you have an account on demonoid/u-g Last edited by Shoonay; 07 June 2007 at 19:58. |
