Hi Sting, I've noticed a copper problem in low video part when Alice fall in multicolor background scene
(WinUAE AGA/030/CE with MMU emulation active). If someone should see the problem can simply disable the MMU. I have not checked why it happens. Also a proper exit is kindly requested Thanks! EDIT: also an hardly noticeable "void" 16pixels strip in the initial $102 "Star Wars" scroller (large high video part) (unrelated to MMU emulation). Last edited by ross; 30 April 2018 at 12:52. |

Hi Ross,
the "void" strip in the star-wars scroller doesn't happen on real amigas, only in WinUAE I spoke to Toni about this and he has tracked down the issue in the emulation code Quote:

This can solve other similar "void" seen also in other situations. Just a few days ago in another thread there was talk of $102 and video synchronization. This scroller is really challenging |

It can only happen if odd and even plane delays in BPLCON1 are different and later in same scan line BPLCON1 is written again but this time odd and even delay are same. If odd == even, optimized routine was used which got confused if odd was not same as even previously in same scanline. Very rare situation. |

The dual playfield was used so that I could use some hardware sprites with the correct priorities, to "hide" some DMA glitches I managed to hide most of them, but unfortunately not all of them, as there were not always enough free copper slots on any particular line (although the glitch I couldn't hide is not particularly noticeable)

I found another bug , but it is easy to fix with an hex editor, you only need to replace the string used for filling the empty sectors with a more sensible one

Just wanted to comment on this awesome demo.
My kids love Alice and were totally blown by the "retro" video of her journey! They now know how cool it was when we were younger with the introduction of 8/16 bit technology! Hope to bring in a new generation of old school demo scene fans. Great work. |
